331 V8 Miata first autocross
Here's my first autocross after getting the V8 conversion complete. The on-board video recording had some problems, but I pieced together what I could. It was a good day. Only real mechanical issue had to do with the power steering fluid overheating. More video on vimeo[dot]com
Beach Hop 2010 - muscle cars, hot rods and rat rods
More at http://www.v8.co.nz/. No music - just V8 muscle! The 10th anniversary of Beach Hop at Whangamata, New Zealand saw thousands of hot rods, muscle cars, rat rods, lowriders and more descend on the sleepy seaside town. The cruise to Onemana with more than a thousand cars was amazing. The weather was awesome, and so were the people. We're looking forward to Beach Hop 2011! Daihatsu Rocky V8! - Streetwize Performance - Project 340 "The Hard Way" clip 2 of 3
Update on the Smallblock Rocky Project, Over the past several weeks I tore down and rebuilt the stock bottom end 8:1 compression 318 in to a 10.2:1 compression 341" (5.6L) mini-stroker, I used a 6" aluminum Mopar Rod that I got a really nice deal on along with the Keith Black KB167 piston and a Mopar Performance 3.55" stroke crank. The combo fits nice (after some bore relieving to clear the big fat rods!).The pistons come up about .005 in the hole, The shortblock is now done and I should be bolting on the tweaked Edelbrock RPM heads, M1 intake and rear sump truck pan, Then I'll be dropping it back in and hope to fire it up (with about another 175 horsepower over the phase 1 318 shown in the first video) within a few weeks.
I'm also going to swap in a much stronger 8 3/4" mopar rear end with 4.56" gears and put a shift kit and 3500 stall 10" converter in the tranny.
YouTube is great because I never really realized before tht although the Daihatsu Rocky is very uncommon here in the states they are very popular all over Europe, Asia and Australia, The engine bay is very large and easily accomodates a Small block Ford, Chevy or this case a Mopar engine....provided the 4x4 crossmember is cut away and you convert to a rear wheel drive configuration.
stay tuned.... :-)

331 V8 Miata first chassis dyno
This is my first chassis Dyno pull w/ the V8 in the miata. No tuning this session. Just wanted to do a baseline pull. 360hp/330ft-lb. There's definitely some tuning needed, but not a bad start. Update: after switching to a smaller carb and small amount of tuning, we made 390hp/375ft-lb.
V8 NC Miata! First ever done!
Here is the first ever done V8 Mazda Miata on the NC body style. Here is info on the factory chassis! Production of the third-generation MX-5, code NC, began May 17, 2005, for delivery in August, for the 2006 model year. This was partially due to the declining sales of the MX-5 during its second generation run. The exterior styling resembles the original design, but unlike the update from NA to NB, which was mostly a nose/tail/interior change, the NC shares no components with the NB, except for the side-panel turning-lights on non-USA models. The lead stylist of this model generation was Moray Callum.
The suspension has changed from a 4-wheel double wishbone setup to a front wishbone/rear multilink setup. Technologies like traction control and stability control were added to increase driveability. According to Car and Driver, the NC has a skidpad number of 0.90g.
For the USA, the engine is the new 16-valve, 2.0 L (120 cu in) MZR I4, producing 170 bhp (130 kW) and 140 lbf·ft (190 N·m) coupled to either a 5-speed or a 6-speed manual transmission or 158 bhp (118 kW) with the optional 6-speed automatic transmission. A limited slip differential is available with the 6-speed option. In Australia the 2.0 L (120 cu in) MZR is offered, rated at 118 kW (158 bhp) and 188 N·m (139 lbf·ft) and the 6-speed transmission and LSD are standard. In Europe, two engines are offered: the 2.0 L (120 cu in) MZR rated at 158 bhp (118 kW) and 188 N·m (139 lbf·ft), coupled to the 6-speed manual transmission; and a new 1.8 L (110 cu in) MZR, rated at 126 bhp (94 kW) and 167 N·m (123 lbf·ft), coupled to the 5-speed manual transmission.

The Banshee (Part 3) [S1 Ep.8-5]
The Banshee is back on GearZ and rollin' down the final stretches as Stacey installs new suspension and brakes to help control this molten missile when he uncorks that nasty V8. Even if you are not putting a V8 in your Miata, this show is full of cool things you can do to any vehicle to make it look, handle, and perform better.
