The Quasar Story
The concept of the Quasar was first mapped out in 1968 by Malcom Newell and
Ken Leaman when they met up in Scotland on holiday.
The design is unlike any standard motorcycle design in that the rider sits
low inside the machine rather than astride it, and this design concept
quickly gained the technical term Feet Forward based on the riding
Prototype work lasted through the early 1970s and it was not until 1976
that the first production Quasar was sold. Production was sporadic at best,
with Wilson Brothers producing an initial batch of six bikes, followed by
Romarsh. John Malfoy of Romarsh oversaw the production of a further ten
vehicles. Meanwhile, Malcolm Newell, arguably the father of the design,
struck off on his own and produced a small number of Quasars from his
cottage. While production numbers are hazy at best, its probable that the
figure did not exceed 30.

that I am very pleased with. The riding technique takes a lot of getting
used to as the Quasar doesn't take rider lean and steering inputs like a
normal motorcycle, and effectively the rider has to learn a whole new set
of techniques to ride it. That being said, once it is mastered, the Quasars
speed and handling comes as a large shock to standard motorcycle riders
when they encounter it."
While the Quasar represents a motorcycle evolutionary dead end, it remains
the most widely recognised feet forward design 30 years after the last
example was built.
Since Dave Lochead is the latest person to construct and ride a Quasar, we
leave the final comment to him:
"It is a shame the Quasar never took off as many motorcycle riders, if they
ignore their prejudices, would find a Quasar a very effective, fun way of
experiencing two wheels -- distinctive, very comfortable, fast and
practical -- and I love it....."

This is a video I made for a friend of mine who is selling some of these

It has a Ford 4 cylinder 150hp engine, and it handles like a Super Mario
Cart! If you are a biker and you want to meet to look at it I will consider
that. It has every option offered by the manufacture, which include:
AC & Heat, Power adjustable peddles, Trunk Carpet, Trail Hitch, Cruse
Control, Front Seat Backrest, Fog lamps, HID headlights.
I have added the following items: Custom LED underbody lights, LED side
lights, Driver pouch, Wig/Wag headlight modulator, Remote Battery Terminal
(without this you will need to take the rear tire off to charge or jump the
battery), Additional antenna, J&N intercom and CB, Trunk Pouch, larger rear
tires, wind deflectors, and power plug.
I have had all the major updates done to this trike, and it is in perfect
mechanical condition and still under the factory warranty. Currently the
2011 models are not being offered due to Ford changing the motor. I am not
sure if TBMS will even offer another model due to having to re-engineer the
bike to fit the changed motors offered by Ford.
What sets my Stallion apart from the newer models is that this one is hand
laid fiberglass with a custom gold and silver fleck candy apple paint with
clear coats. This paint is truly amazing when you compare it to the new
flatter paint on the new plastic bikes.
Only about 600-800 of these trikes have been made and they are truly

Briefly here it is: 35-45mpg sipping regular gas. 143 hp weighing only
1,750lbs. 9.5 gallon fuel cell. With a top speed of 119 mph!
