Buick Grand National Car Show, 1990
Video by John Spina, Caspers Electronics Inc. in Lake Zurich IL and hosted by Kirban Performance, Warminster PA. Vintage video footage showing the Buick Grand National frenzy back in the day...something you will never see again (at least not in these numbers - the closest you'll ever get to this many cars is the GS Nationals). The turbocharged and intercooled Buick was the fastest US production car in 1987; and even today, still one of the quickest vehicles on the road and at the quarter-mile tracks. Amazing, 80's technology is still hard to beat.
1987 Buick Grand National First start in ten years
Video was made for personal use but decided to share
Sat in storage for ten years (01-11)
Changed oil, changed plugs and charged the battery. Thats it.
Fogged the cylinders and ran the motor with out plugs to build up oil pressure before i started it.
Smoke from start up was from the fogging oil, I still cant believe how easy it started. Even the gas in ten years old! Although, it was before Ethanol was added to everything and it was treated with a heavy dose of good stabilizer. It will be drained and new fuel will be added before we run it again.
Enjoy!
1984 Buick Grand National - 1 of only 2,000 made in '84 - SOLD!
This Buick Grand National is one of only 2,000 produced in 1984 and as such is very rare. It was the only year w/leather seats and factory mag wheels. It has power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, tilt wheel, cruise, power driver's seat and power windows. Current mileage is 105K.
At 95K the following was done to the car: engine completely overhauled including rebore, new cam, turbo rebuild, heads, etc., every belt and hose was replaced and the receipts from an ASE certified shop are available upon purchase. The radiator and transmission were rebuilt as well. There are new tires and a new aluminized Exhaust system with flow master muffler.
This car was repainted from bare metal with base coat/clear coat paint (owner has pictures to prove it, and the front suspension was rebuilt using Koni adjustable shocks.
The car was purchased new from Armstrong Buick (now Volkswagen) in Gladstone, OR in 1984. The owner bought it from his good friend when it was just 2 years old and had only 10K miles. If you keep your foot out of the turbo, you can get 22-24 MPG freeway. Many of the miles are freeway driving between Portland and Seattle. It has always been serviced regularly, uses synthetic oil and premium gas only. There is current certification on it passing DEQ.
