Janalee Graham, Antenna Testing Engineer for GM, discusses the Santimo Antenna Testing System (ATS) used to test the band reach for both XM and OnStar. With 103 probes, the technology provides a means to test where to place antennas on the GMC vehicles in order to gain the best coverage.
The Santimo ATS has been so successful in helping develop a safe vehicle they've reported the OnStar system reaches emergency personnel even when the cell phone could not. For more information go to http://www.gmc.com/owners/owners.html.

GMC Terrain | Small SUV | Vehicle Performance Technology
The vehicle performance to the 2012 GMC Terrain Small SUV is discussed by
Doug Smith (Production Engineering Manager), Tim Herrick (Global Vehicle
Chief Engineer), Dave Poniatowski (Production Manager), and Lisa Hutchinson
(Crossover Product Manager). The GMC Terrain has two powertrains available-
the 4 cylinder with a 182 horsepower engine, a towing
capacity of 1500 lbs and the 6 cylinder with a towing capacity of 3500lbs.
Both powertrains use Variable Valve Timing, Direct injection Dual Overhead
CAMs, and 6 speed transmissions which drive performance and fuel economy.
The 4 cylinder engine has an Eco Button, or Economy Mode, which provides
the maximum amount of fuel economy by changing the shift pattern.
The Small SUV is also an All Wheel Drive (AWD) Vehicle which provides power
to all four wheels when necessary. The 112"" wheel base is also the largest
in its segment for ride handling reasons and provide a comfortable 2nd row
egress. The 5 passenger vehicle uses a multi flex seating system to expand
its cargo capacity. Using all the benefits and features available to
crossovers, the Terrain also has child safety locks right on the console.

What Camerons Car Reviews has to say about the Terrain: GMC's Terrain has
been out since 2010 and since it's debuted the Terrain and it's cousin the
Chevrolet Equinox have made into many suburban home garages. For 2013, GMC
introduces an all new upscale trim the Denali. Power in the Terrain comes
from a average 2.4 L 4-Cylinder or step up to the 3.6 L V6 to get more
power out of the crossover. Fuel economy is decent too earning a
respectable 22 City and 32 HWY. On the interior you will find the Terrain
to have a more premium feel than it's cousin and many other crossovers with
nice stitching around the cabin and soft touch interior accents. On the
exterior the rear brake lights some what look like the RAV4's and many
consumers think the whole shape of the car represents a brick on wheels
with it's very utilitarian exterior design and it's boxy shape. Compared to
it's competitors the Terrain tends to do many things very well and if you
are looking at the small crossover segment the Terrain should be considered
on the test drive list.
Dodge vs. GMC vs. Nissan at Spring Creek
Dodge, GMC, and Nissan compete on this small hill climb (100% grade) at
Spring Creek Off Road. very muddy and slick; who will make it up?
Dodge and GMC are on Nitto Terra Grapplers. Nissan is running Michelin LTX
A/T2. The Nittos on the Dodge are old and bald; the Nittos on the GMC are
nearly brand new.

Counter Surveillance -- How to remove the spybox from your car
So I canceled my ONSTAR due to privacy concerns. I don't know how best to
explain it but when the _ _ _ taps your ONSTAR you can't make calls and it
won't save you in an emergency. That came to light during a case in which
this type of government surveillance was used to nab some mafia types or
whatever. Since believing in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and US
Sovereignty gets a person on the "list" nowadays I figured it was time for
the spybox to go.
How to disable Onstar without losing bluetooth and without setting error
1. Remove Onstar Module from vehicle.
2. Remove the 6 T10 screws from the bottom of the Onstar Module.
3. Pull up on the main board to separate it from the antenna board.
4. Remove the Male/Male connector that connects the main board to the
5. Drop the main board back in without the Male/Male connector and
reinstall the screws.
6. Reinstall the Onstar Module in the vehicle and enjoy!
No error codes and no Onstar connectivity.
