Working view of 2 Stroke Opposed piston Engine
Saw this at the Mount Gambier show and had to share.
Really appreciate the interest shown so far.
Some good views of rockers and scavenge blower and a look in the inlet showing the piston working as the valve plus the injector shooting into a glass jar.
As a kid I remember the sharp bark these engines made at full noise. Apologies to anoraks who want to know all the details but it was hard to hear the chap at the engine because of surrounding noise.
The chugging noise you can hear is the vintage Ronaldson Tippett engine which is turning this engine over slowly so you can see how it works.
Further notes: It is a 2 stroke cycle which fires every revolution and uses the piston on the inlet side to open and close the port and the piston on the Exhaust side to uncover the Exhaust at the appropriate time while the blower is not to supercharge but to "scavenge" the spent gases ( basically the air blows in the inlet and out the Exhaust at a slight pressure)

Dragbike Live was on location at the Manufacturers Cup Finals held November 12-14 2010 at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Georgia when Top Fuel Nitro motorcycle legendary drag racer Larry "Spiderman" Mcbride against V-Twin Top Fuel Harley rider Tommy Grimes aboard the Ray Price Top Fuel Nitro entry met in the final round. Mcbride ran an incredible 5.830 elapsed time at 232.75 miles per hour for the win! This was a historic final round,marking the first time a V-Twin Top Fuel Nitro burner would face off against an import Top Fuel Nitro Methane injected drag bike.

Engine Blow up at school
This is what happens when you don't tighten the cam shaft bolts to specs. We took the engine apart and all of the valves needed to be replaced because they were bent. The top of the pistons all had the indentation from the Exhaust and intake valves.

Top Fuel Chris Hand Blown OFF of Bike at 218MPH!!!
Chris' left hand came off the grip before the 1,000Ft mark and he got blown off the bike at 218MPH!!!
The safety gear did it's job because he was at the track the next day with only a small bandage on one hand!!!
