Immediately you sit in the car, you feel cossetted, you feel part of the car, there's a cockpit environment. And when you touch every aspect of the car, the materials feel right, the switches feel solid, there's a positive movement. And it's those touchpoints that we believe are absolutely critical to making that driver environment one that the driver believes in, feels comfortable in and has the real confidence.
For me, the driver position is fantastic. Particularly in the GT form, it feels sporty, you sit in the driver's seat, you're hugged by the seat, your steering wheel feels like it's sports-derivative. And then the actual drive is so involving, you feel at one with the car. It does deliver on that experience.
We focussed very much on delivering dynamics that are best-in-class. So we've measured it against the BMW 3-series which we believed was up to now, the best, and I think we've delivered against that.
It is a lovely car to drive. I've driven it many times now. It is in my opinion a superior product to its predecessor, and will go towards competing in the premium sector.
Really I think the key is when you drive the car, you're going to feel the difference. I mean the looks are good but the actual road holding - the investment that's been made in the new suspension at the back is going to give it a much more involving drive.
This is a car that not only will deliver comfort and refinement but also the thrill of what Honda stands for - great engines and a great chassis with high levels of technology.
I think for customers that driving experience will be something that they will relish. And that's what part of the Accord refinement is about. A sporty car but one that is also very very enjoyable to drive.

Vous trouviez la Honda Accord vieillotte ? Le nouvel opus, lancé en 2008, devrait vous réconcilier avec le modèle. La berline phare du constructeur japonais sest offert une cure de jouvence et de dynamisme du plus bel effet. LAccord a également grandi. Elle a gagné six centimètres en longueur et huit en largeur. Enfin, notons sur la balance un léger embonpoint: + 70 kg avec le nouveau bloc diesel de 150 ch.
Dans lhabitacle, la planche de bord hérite dun nouveau design et de matériaux plus cossus. De série, léquipement est riche avec feux automatiques, clim bi-zone et système Bluetooth. Le niveau supérieur senrichit de laide au stationnement et dun toit ouvrant. Au-delà, on profite de trois aides à la conduite dont le régulateur de vitesse adaptif et le système de prévention des collisions.
La nouveauté est aussi sous le capot. Deux des trois moteurs au catalogue gagnent 10 ch. Le 2.4 essence est aujourdhui fort de 201 ch et le 2.2 diesel de 150 ch. Ce regain de puissance offre au « mazout » de meilleures performances, notamment au chapitre des reprises. Quant à la consommation, bonne nouvelle, elle baisse ! De près dun litre et demi selon les données Honda.
Dans cette nouvelle génération dAccord, la banquette sallonge. Les passagers disposent dune largeur aux coudes plus importante. A contrario, la garde au toit régresse. Quant à la longueur aux jambes, elle stagne. Globalement, les cotes se situent dans la bonne moyenne de la catégorie.
A louverture de la malle, on découvre un coffre toujours aussi tarabiscoté. Bilan : même sil profite de quelques décimètres cubes supplémentaires, il reste peu logeable. Pour le chargement dobjets plus encombrants, il suffit de tirer la manette pour abaisser le dossier des banquettes.
L'Accord a fait dénormes progrès. Son style est plus percutant, sa finition plus valorisante, ses motorisations plus performantes et ses équipements de série plus nombreux. Des nouveautés qui ne passent pas inaperçues sur la note. Les tarifs ont en effet grimpé et débutent désormais à 27 500 euros en essence et 29 200 euros en diesel.
