This unit is composed of three parts, the clutch plate, the hub and the coil. The clutch coil is the one that creates an electromagnetic field around it, which attracts the plate and engages the clutch. The plate is also linked to the drive or serpentine belt and is driven by the crankshaft. The hub and the plate have to be calibrated to a specific gap using a feeler gauge. The purpose of this video is to illustrate how almost all AC compressor clutches are wires. The actual wiring may contain other components, such as transistors and IC computer chips, but the control itself is the same. In all cases, these extra components are used to control the relay coil, which in itself controls the AC compressor clutch. This simple circuit can also be used to wire an older vehicle due to lack of parts and high costs. Here is how this circuit works. This circuit has one relay, a refrigerant pressure switch, and a micro switch. The micro switch is a W O T or wide open throttle switch used to disengage the compressor clutch during wide open throttle conditions. This is done to protect the compressor from damage at high engine speeds. Electrical current flows from the 12 volt power feed to the fuse. Then current flows to terminal... How To Find and Repair AC Leaks - EricTheCarGuy
Visit me at: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/ How To Recharge an AC System: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lglPJuBXVeE Basics of AC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w17DpGCcRj8 AC Performance Test: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU_A4wNuHXI I suppose this has been a long time coming but for me I wanted to make sure that I made a video that would be useful to you as well as emphasized the importance of good practices when working with AC. Keep in mind refrigerant is a CFC meaning that it pretty much kills the ozone layer and if you don't respect that you WILL cause environmental damage even a little adds up so please follow the precautions in this video when working on an AC system. The other thing about AC is that it involves a lot more than just shooting a can of refrigerant into the system when it's not working right there are many systems that come into play that you need to consider such as; the health of the cooling system, cooling fan operation, the mechanical operation of the components of the system, the operation of the HVAC inside the dash, and the electronics so keep in mind if you're having a problem with your AC it could be much more than just a simple leak. I'll get off my soap box now. --- Click below and Stay Dirty Visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com http://ericthecarguy.com/ Visit EricTheCarGuy Forum http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/default.aspx Visit my Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/EricTheCarGuy --- Stay dirty and stay cool ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information.  EricTheCarGuy assumes no liability for property damage or injury incurred as a result of any of the information contained in this video. EricTheCarGuy recommends safe practices when working with power tools, automotive lifts, lifting tools, jack stands, electrical equipment, blunt instruments, chemicals, lubricants, or any other tools or equipment seen or implied in this video.  Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, no information contained in this video shall create any express or implied warranty or guarantee of any particular result.  Any injury, damage or loss that may result from improper use of these tools, equipment, or the information contained in this video is the sole responsibility of the user and not EricTheCarGuy.

How to fix a squealing AC compressor clutch pulley on a Dodge Ram, part I
This video shows part I of how I diagnosed and replaced the AC compressor clutch pulley bearing from the air conditioning compressor on a 5.9L 1998 Dodge Ram 4X4. The repair was accomplished on the vehicle, allowing it to be done without evacuating freon from the system. Incidental repair of an antifreeze leak at the engine cooling system thermostat and heater hose was also done. Note that often when an AC clutch pulley bearing fails, the underlying compressor is also failing. So, many professionals recommend replacing the compressor, receiver dryer, and flushing the AC system when the pulley bearing fails. I did not find enough evidence of compressor failure to justify that extra cost, but time will tell whether this less extensive repair is durable. The AC compressor involved was a Sanden 4692, roughly equivalent to the Sanden model SD 7H15. Although I initially planned to replace the pulley, clutch plate, coil, and bearing, I had difficulty finding parts to match my system, so I replaced only the pulley bearing. Overall cost was less than $50 and a few hours of labour. Part II of this video set is here http://youtu.be/DHtA2U7OWCU For a good review, showing how to disassemble Sanden compressor clutches on the bench, see the video by Nostalgic air parts, as follows. http://youtu.be/WCiuQ1a5NG8 I purchased the bearing online from AC parts warehouse, address shown in the video at 9:25. They were very helpful. This video is strictly amateur, published for entertainment purposes, and is in no way a qualified instructional effort. Work on AC systems involves special risks, including the risk of violating international law if freon is released into the atmosphere without reclaiming it. Do not try this at home. Any misadventure you encounter if you attempt to repair your vehicle is your responsibility. 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ A/C Clutch and Shim Removal
How to remove the clutch off a Sanden air conditioning compressor on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee / Chrysler Vehicles. I believe this is the same compressor that is on many Jeep Liberty KJ's and lots of other Chrysler vehicles. Process should be similar on many other vehicles as many use Sanden compressors of this style. Hope this vid helps you out a bit. This is a super easy job and may get your A/C back up without spending any money.
