Tacoma Coil Over Shock Disassembly without a Spring Compressor
In this video I describe how to disassemble and remove a coil over shock from a Toyota Tacoma without using a coil spring compressor. This is a 2nd Gen. Tacoma (2005 - 2013) and in the video I am using Bilstein 5100 shocks and OME 885 coil springs (that have been painted silver). Note: Before starting this process I have already removed my sway bar. You will need to remove your sway bar before starting this process and re-install it after you are done. Regarding the headliner, just get your fingers under the headliner and directly under the christmas tree fastener and pull down, no worries, just pull till they pop out.. After you watch the video, once you break that black click in tab, you must bend the body colored tab that the black tab once passed through (downward) and your done.. This mite not fix all the noises because there is another one found on some cars on the rear inner speaker section under the back window. I was quoted by Toyota to the sum of $120... This will take you a total of 3-5 minutes TOPS. All you need is a little flat head screw driver to do this.
