For Sale: 1997 Porsche Boxster - $11,700 OBO (Austin, TX)
I am offering my Porsche Boxster at $11,700 or best offer. It has 64,3xx miles.
Highlights include:
- Ice cold AC
- New tires
- Battery replaced on 10/9/09 (have receipt)
- 60k-mile service done at German Auto Center here in Austin on 11/4/09 (have receipt)
- Replaced oil and oil filter (Mobil 1)
- Replaced spark plugs
- Replaced fuel filter
- Replaced engine air filter
- Replaced cabin air filter
- Top is watertight and in excellent condition
- Paint is in excellent condition with no scratches or dents
- Leather seats have a patina but no tears or scratches
- No oil leaks
- Extremely clean interior
- Always garaged
As it turns out, having a two-seater is not a very good idea if you move here from out of state and your family and friends visit you all the time. Try driving both of your parents and all their luggage home from the airport in a Boxster :) I have already moved on to something with four seats and the Boxster now passes its time in the garage waiting for you to pick it up.
After I bought the car, I spent $1400 in standard maintenance and aftermarket mods. I wanted it to be a reliable daily driver for the next four to five years, and I wanted to insure its mechanical condition and make it look a lot newer. It's tough to part with this car after sinking that much money into it, but my loss is your gain. Lesson learned.
It needs absolutely nothing now and will need nothing but a couple oil changes until the next 30k mile service interval in 26k miles!
I have gotten plenty of offers for $10k cash and I am not interested in such a figure, although the $11,700 list is negotiable.
Here's what I've done since October 2009 to insure its mechanical reliability and update its look:
60k Service (change oil (Mobil1), replace engine oil filter, engine air filter, cabin air filter, spark plugs, adjust parking brake): $900
Aftermarket LED taillights: $200
Aftermarket carbon fiber shift knob: $160
Aftermarket LED 3rd brake light: $110

Roadsters combine the convertible feeling with superior comfort. drive it! put the Porsche Boxster and BMW's Z4 through their paces. Both feature a retractable steel roof and are certainly impressive to the eye - but are they actually as fantastic as they look? We examined how they coped with stowing away a golf bag. On the powerplant front,the Boxster had a 2.9-liter mid-engine with 255 hp,while the Z4 we tested was driven by a 3-liter unit delivering 258 hp. Their prices in Germany start at 46,500 euros and 42,900 euros respectively.
