A 390 with our "Prison Break 445" stroker kit, Stage X Edelbrock heads, a Victor intake and an 850 carb. Cam is a 236@.050 hydraulic roller with .598 lift, and runs were made on 93 octane unleaded.
REAL FE horsepower documented on a REAL Dyno!
My Movie FE 390 STROKER
"Ol Blue" is part of the family. I bought this 1976 Ford in the fall of
1977 and this is the 4th motor. Alot of memories and it's has been a good
old pickup. Thank you to Scott Hutton and Grumpy's Repair for your tech
addvice and to everyone involved from start to finish. A special thanks to
Rebecca Dufresne for help with this video.
Ford FE 390 Big Block rebuilding part 2
To see the first part of the rebuilding go to:
and to see the break in run, go to:
Driving my 1965 Ford Galaxie 500XL 445 Stroker Ford FE
Driving my Hot Rod 1965 Galaxie 500XL with a 390 FE Ford base 445 FE
Stroker engine. It has an Edelbrock RPM intake with a MightyDemon 800 carb
and Edelbrock heads. A Comp solid lifter falt tappet cam with .605 lift and
248 deg duration at .050 lift Harland Sharp Roller Rockers and shafts,
billet rocker stands with end stands. Transmission is a TCI Streetfighter
C-6 with 3500 stall convertor and 3.70 gears, Tracl-Loc Differential,
Currie Nodular 9", Billet Pinion Retainer and 31 spline forged alloy axles.
Ford 390 FE dyno run - stroked to 445 cubes - 521 horsepower
This is a Survival Motorsports built 445 FE, based on a Ford 390 engine.
Compression is 9.8:1 and it is running on pump premium. Heads and intake
are modified Edelbrock parts. Cam is a custom hydraulic roller for great
power and no break-in worries. Carb is a Holley 750 double pumper. Oil
pan on this one is a special Canton dual sump "T" type for rack & pinion
conversions on earlier Mustangs - pretty trick.
Engine made 521 horsepower at 5800 RPM,
revving freely past 6000. Torque was really strong and flat curve - over
530 from 4000RPM all the way through 5000RPM.
Ford 428 Cobra Jet on dyno - with Survival FE stroker kit and dual quads
Ford 428 Cobra Jet with dual quads. Stroked to 462 cubes with a Survival
Motorsports "Prison Break" 4.250 stroked kit. Hydraulic roller cam with
.598 lift. Compression at 10.8:1, running factory iron 428CJ heads with
modest port work and bigger valves. Pump premium 93 octane unleaded.
Engine made 543 horsepower at 5600RPM and
561 torque with a dead flat torque band from 4000 to 4800. Idles with a
nice chop at 800.
No drama. No computer generated dream numbers. No unsubstantiated claims.
No hype. Just plain old gut wrenching FE horsepower from the guys
that do these engines every day.
445 Stroker Ford FE Engine Final Break-In Run
This is my Hot Rod Ford FE 390 based 445 Stroker engine (1974 Ford 390
mirror 105 Truck Block) bored .050 over with a Scat 4.25 Stroker Kit..
With the overbore it should be about 450ci. It has custom Diamond Pistons
(10.0 c.r.) and a Comp Solid Flat Tappet Cam .605 lift and 245 duration @
.050 lift. Edelbrock 428CJ heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake and a
MiightyDemon 750 CFM Carb. This combo has been Dyno tested and delivers 500hp &
500 ft/lbs of torque. It's going in a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500XL to replace
the blown 428CobraJet engine that was in it. Thanks for watching. Warren.

390 Ford FE Teardown
A greasy old 390 Ford FE engine being torn down and prepared for a high
performance build. Yes, that is Sean Hannity on the radio in the
Ford 427 SOHC Cammer on dyno - 614 horsepower at 6500RPM
Original S.O.H.C. Cammer, built by Survival Motorsports, on the engine Dyno. This was with a
428 crank, Lemans rods, unported iron heads, a factory dual plane 2x4
intake and car, and LSM reproduction stock cams. Compression was dropped
to 10.8:1 for pump gas, but tests were run with turbo Blue 110 for safety's sake. Sorry about the
Peak power was 614 at 6500RPM, peak torque was 554 at 5200RPM.
