MB E300D cold start in -35C
I decided to go to the work earlier then I normally do and there was no time to preheat my car. At the morning temperature was -35C and that is as cold as it ever gets in here. The car has 480k km on it.

1983 Mercedes 300 Diesel Cold Start
300TD inline 5, 90hp, 412 000km, 4 speed auto tranny.
The engine is in great condition, it didn't start right up because it had sat for some weeks.
Hopefully this car will be back on the road soon!, because it's really a great car!

1,4 Million KM Mercedes 300D Sat 7 Years
Was put away in 2003 because of rust and the engine was worn, it didn't start in the winters and it smoked real bad. It sat for 7 years another place, so it was moved to this place, but not started because we used a truck. Over the 7 years we lost the key for it, so I had to redneck wire the glowplugs and starter.

1981 Mercedes Benz 240 diesel 4 Speed
A video presentation of our (almost classic) clean old ultra reliable MB 240 Diesel 4dr, 4 speed manual stickshift, sedan.
More information: 1981 Mercedes Benz 240d Diesel. 4 speed transmission. Great condition. Mechanic owned last 4 years. I bought this car from my client. I have most original service records dating back to 1989 and have personally serviced the car since 2000. I have the original owners manual and factory service schedule since the car was brand new. There is No body rust whatsoever!. This is a true NW car, it has lived in Seattle and Portland it's whole life. Brand new license plate tags good until 2012. Just passed Oregon DEQ with flying colors. Engine has always had regular oil changes and has 2000 miles remaining on current 3000 mile oil change. This car will get 40 MPG hwy. if kept under 60 mph. It will get 34-36 mpg if kept under 65 mph. The power sunroof works! 318k original miles. Don't be afraid of the high miles. It runs perfect as any good quality car with great maintained history and care should. New Bosch glow plugs 1 year ago. Clarion AM/FM 4 speaker cassette stereo. Tan viynl interior, classic white exterior. Paint is good and shiny, I just buffed the paint for Spring. It has wind up windows. A/C works but not super cold. Can be run on Biofuel, Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO with modifications) or Biodiesel. Make your own fuel! Good tires. Good brakes. Clutch has been replaced and works perfect. No oil leaks nor excessive tailpipe smoke. Engine compartment was just cleaned. Transmission was rebuilt in the 90's and shifts swell. Extremely reliable car. My mother drives it when her Volvo breaks down. No disappointments.
-29C degrees cold start LADA
It was really -29* when i tried to start engine of my lada samara(1500 ccm, solex-carburettor).
A battery was fully loaded at home yesterday, and me and my wife rided to our parents something like 20 kilometers on the streets of StPetersburg,Russia. It was 1,5 hours before we achieved parents house and i stopped engine, Jam everywhere!
And night was cold and there was 29 degrees of cold by celsius. And morning begins! At first i tryed to fully pull the choke lever and start engine. There was little rpm - motor oil was too cold and sticky, starter can`t rotate crankschaft.
At the second i turn on the light to make little load to battery, to warm it up and mix the electrolite inside.
At the third i turn on the starter and motor reluctantly maked flashes, and more and more!
Battery - 65 Ah, 5 years old
Carburettor - solex, 12 years old
Motor oil - Esso Ultra 10 w40, 8.000 km
Compression on cylinders(last summer) 9-10-10.5-10.5

Dat was nog de echte dieselmotor, van toen je buurman s'ochtends naar zijn werk ging met de Mercedes en de straat blauw stond.
Deze motor was ooit bedoeld geweest voor een boot, maar dat is er niet van gekomen.
Heeft +- 6 jaar stil gestaan. Heeft alleen een beetje versleten schraapveren want hij rookt nogal.
Even gloeiplugs eruit gehad en schoon gemaakt want hij gloeide niet goed, daarna tik.......lopen.
Smart CDI -29C cold start
8th December, 2009. Novosibirsk, Russia. Cranks pretty good, but baaaarely starts... Smart fortwo says "leave me alone, dude". ABS and ESP freezed, which is why there's a warning light on the dash. The steering is very hard at the beginning due to freezed suspension. I used Liqui Moly diesel antigel, whis is the best in my oppinion, although a bit pricey.
