Kia has unveiled the 2011 Optima Hybrid at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Created specifically for the U.S. market, the car features a full parallel hybrid system which consists of a 168 PS (124 kW / 166 hp) 2.4-liter petrol engine and a 30 kW (41 PS / 40 hp) electric motor. All told, the two can work together to produce a combined 209 PS (154 kW / 206 hp) and 265 Nm (194 lb-ft) of torque.
This enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 121 mph (195 km/h). More importantly, fuel consumption is expected to be 36 mpg city / 40 mpg highway (US).
To get these impressive features, Kia engineers optimized the petrol engine and installed a 34 kW lithium-ion battery which enables the hybrid to operate in EV mode at speeds up to 100 km/h (62 mph).
On the styling front, the Hybrid is distinguished by a reduced ride height (lowered 5mm), a revised grille, and unique 16-inch alloy wheels with low-rolling resistance tires.
No word on pricing, but look for the Optima Hybrid to start arriving at U.S. dealerships early next year.

2011 Kia Sportage
Embodying Kia's new visual dynamism, all-new Sportage is a fresh, bold, athletic and sporty design that blends the key features of an SUV - the commanding driving position, heightened sense of security and raised ground clearance - in a sleek and urban-friendly design.
2012 Kia Picanto promo
Completely redesigned for 2012, the second generation Kia Picanto (aka Morning in S. Korea) has made its world debut at the 81st Geneva Motor Show.
Displaying a lot more character, the Picanto drops the cute Pokemon look of the first generation for a bolder design. The Picanto features an aggressive front bumper, sweptback headlights, flame surfaced doors, side skirts, unique taillights and a roof spoiler. Add in aggressive design lines and sporty alloy wheels and the Picanto is transformed into a serious contender in the sub-compact city car segment.
The new generation Picanto will be offered as a five-door globally while a sportier three-door body style will eventually be available in Europe.
When lauched towards the end of 2011, four "super-efficient" engines will be available. These engines include a 1.0-liter three-cylinder, available in petrol, flex fuel and bi-fuel versions, as well as a 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol. Outputs will range from 69 (51 kW / 69 hp) to 85 PS (63 kW / 84 hp), while torque numbers vary from 94 (69 lb-ft) to 121 Nm (89 lb-ft). More specifically, the 1.0-liter bi-fuel engine produces 82 PS (60 kW / 81 hp) and 94 Nm (69 lb-ft) of torque.
A five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic is available for all engines. CO2 emissions range from 95 to 105 g/km or 90 and 100 g/km with the optional engine start/stop system.
Audi A6 Hybrid footage
Audi will begin series production of the A6 hybrid, its second hybrid model after the Q5 hybrid quattro. The A6 hybrid employs an efficient parallel hybrid concept: Its combustion engine, a 155 kW (211 hp) 2.0 TFSI, works together with an electric motor that delivers 33 kW (45 hp) and 211 Nm (155.63 lb-ft) of torque. The electric motor sits directly behind the TFSI, occupying the space of the torque converter upstream of the modified 8-speed tiptronic. The transmission sends torque to the front wheels.
