Bob Glidden has this very bad crash at the 1986 NHRA Southernnationals. Glidden applied the brakes to early at top end and headed straight into the guard rail and rolled the car more than five times, one of the worst NHRA drag racing crashes form the 1980's.

Pro Stock Drag Racing in the '70s and '80s
Some pictures that I took of Pro Stockers back in the '70s and '80s along with a clip from the Diamond P video "Decade Of Thrills" Note... the last photo, at 6:43, before the video clip is one that I took from the grandstands at the '83 US Nationals showing Lee Shepherd in the lead at that point. But as the video shows, Bob Glidden drove around him to take the title. Great Racin'!!
Big Daddy Don Garlits Blowover
Big Daddy Don Garlits has this nasty blowover at the 1986 NHRA Summernationals at Englishtown to be the first driver ever to do so. He stunned the crowd and everyone else when his Top Fuel Dragster lifted toward the sky and fliped over backwards then headed toward the start line.
