2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, first official pictures. Hamburg, 15.05.13 Set to go on sale later this year, the redesigned model has a distinctive front fascia with a massive grille that is flanked by LED-infused headlights. Moving further back we can see flowing character lines, distinctive taillights, an angular trunk and a dual Exhaust system. The stylish cabin is awash with high quality materials and premium accents. Notable highlights are slated to include a panoramic sunroof, illuminated door sill plates, soft-closing doors and LED ambient lighting. We can also expect a Burmester audio system, two 12.3-inch displays and four different wood trims: Burl Walnut, Myrtle Sunburst, Black Popular and "Metalized Ash." Customers will also be able to order options such as heated / ventilated seats, a rear seat entertainment system and an "Air Balance Package" that filters and ionizes the air and can even dispense perfume. If that's not impressive enough, the model can also be equipped with rear "Chauffer Seats" that are ten-way adjustable and have power-deployable footrests. Under the hood, at least three different engines will be available. The S350 BlueTEC will have a 3.0-liter V6 diesel that produces 258 HP (190 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque. It will enable the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). Moving up to the S500 will reward buyers with a 4.7-liter V8 petrol engine that cranks out 455 HP (335 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. This will allow the car to run from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, before topping out at 250 km/h (155 mph). Lastly, the S400 Hybrid will have a hybridized 3.5-liter V6 engine which produces 306 HP (225 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque. This will enable the luxury sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and have a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

2014 BMW X5
2014 BMW X5, first official pictures. 29.05.13. Looking instantly recognizable, the redesigned crossover has evolutionary styling which closely mimics the outgoing model. Despite the déjà vu design, the 2014 X5 has a more prominent grille, an aerodynamic front bumper and optional LED adaptive headlights. Other touches include rear "Aero Blades" and new "Air Curtains" that promise to reduce drag by routing air around the wheel arches. The interior is pretty familiar but adopts higher quality materials and an improved design. Key features include LED ambient lighting, a freestanding iDrive display, gloss black accents and Oxide Silver, Aluminum Hexagon or Poplar Grain wood trim. Due to the model's increased dimensions, there's additional interior room and a more accommodating boot that can hold up to 1,870 liters (66 cubic feet) of luggage. Options include comfort / sport seats, a reclining second row and heated / ventilated front seats. The model can also be equipped with four-zone automatic climate control, a third row seat, a Harman Kardon or Bang & Olufsen audio system as well as a new rear seat entertainment system with two "tablet-style" displays. At launch, the model will be offered with three different engines. The X5 xDrive50i features a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 that develops 450 HP (330 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). In terms of efficiency, owners can expect to average 10.4 - 10.5 L/100km (26.9 - 27.2 mpg UK / 22.4 - 22.6 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 242 to 244 g/km. Next up, the X5 xDrive30d has a 3.0-liter TwinPower turbo six-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 258 HP (190 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the crossover to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). Thanks to its fuel-efficient engine, the X5 xDrive30d averages 6.2 L/100km (45.6 mpg UK / 37.9 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 162 to 164 g/km. Lastly, the X5 M50d has a tri-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine which produces 381 HP (280 kW) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to run from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). Despite the impressive performance, the model returns 6.7 L/100km (42.2 mpg UK / 35.1 mpg US) and has CO2 emissions of 177 g/km. On the handling front, BMW offers a variety of suspension packages. The Dynamic adaptive suspension package comes with Dynamic Drive active roll stabilization, while the Comfort active suspension package has a rear air suspension and Dynamic Damper Control. If those choices sound like two different extremes, the Professional adaptive suspension package promises to deliver the best of both worlds as it combines the features of Comfort and Dynamic suspension packages. Lastly, ordering the M Sport package equips the model with an Adaptive M suspension that has Dynamic Damper Control, a rear air suspension and sportier tuning all-around. The 2014 BMW X5 will be built in Spartanburg, South Carolina and Germany deliveries are scheduled for November

Design Vision GTI
Design Vision GTI World premiere of the "Design Vision GTI" -- racing GTI with 503 PS debuts at Wörthersee GTI cult at Wörthersee: Volkswagen developed concept car for the race track

"Design Vision GTI" transfers the appearance of the Golf icon to car racing Wolfsburg/Reifnitz, 08 May 2013 - The GTI meeting at Wörthersee is a veritable cult and pure automobile passion. Just like the car everybody is celebrating and driving there. There ought to be 150,000 fans showing up again in 2013. From 8 through 11 May 2013, they will turn the Austrian city of Reifnitz into a Mecca of the GTI scene. Traditional highlight: the world premiere of a concept car conceived by Volkswagen engineers and designers especially for the meeting. This year, it is a visionary GTI for car racing—the "Design Vision GTI." An unmatched 370 kW / 503 PS Golf. The progressive design study is based on the seventh-generation GTI that was launched just now in Europe, transferring the design and power potential of the icon to the world of car racing. Visually, particularly intriguing: The design team under the aegis of Klaus Bischoff (Head of Design of Volkswagen Brand) has drawn the C pillars and side sills outward as autonomous body elements, thus creating space for substantially enlarged track widths and specially developed 20-inch wheels (with 235 tyres in the front, 275 tyres in the rear). The "Design Vision GTI" achieves 300 km/h, and despite extreme modifications, it comes across as very homogeneous thanks to the precise styling based on the Volkswagen design DNA: this "Super-GTI" could start tomorrow in a racing series! Drive system -- technology and driving performance The new Golf GTI is already more of a clear leader on the road than ever with an output of 162 kW / 220 PS or 169 kW / 230 PS (Golf GTI Performance), respectively. Now Volkswagen has more than doubled this power on board of the "Design Vision GTI," with the 503 PS (at 6,500 rpm) mentioned above. So what's working under the bonnet in the front is not a series four-cylinder but a V6 engine. As with the 2.0-litre engine of the production GTI, however, the 3.0 litre engine of the concept car is a TSI - a direct injection petrol engine with turbocharger. In this case, two turbochargers are on board. Two three-way catalytic converters arranged close to the engine optimise emission behaviour. The V6-TSI develops 500 Nm already in the lower engine speed range (as of 2,000 rpm) and a maximum torque of 560 Nm (between 4,000 rpm and 6,000 rpm). This force is distributed to the front and rear wheels via a dual clutch gearbox (DSG) and an all-wheel drive. With this drive concept and a specially designed sports chassis, the "Design Vision GTI" virtually eats up any type of race track. And pretty damn quick at that: After a mere 3.9 seconds, the study is already going 100 km/h fast. In order to slow down the GTI with corresponding power, going 300 km/h fast as mentioned above, Volkswagen uses ceramic brake discs all around. In the front, the brake callipers grip onto 380-mm discs; at the rear, the diameter is 356 mm. The ceramic brake discs and red-painted brake callipers shine through the spokes of the 20-inch alloy wheels, which have likewise been redesigned. The front wheels (8.5J x 20, ET32) are fitted with 235/35 tyres; the rear wheels (9.5J x 20, ET25) are equipped with 275/30 tyres.

Toyota GT86 (Scion FR-S) review - CarBuyer
Full review: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/toyota/gt-86/coupe/review The Toyota GT86 has been charged with injecting a little excitement into the Japanese brand's dull and dependable image. Developed in partnership with Subaru, the rear-wheel drive coupe promises to mix driving fun with great value for money. The GT 86 is priced at around £25,000, and is aimed squarely at entry-level versions of the evergreen Audi TT. While the Toyota isn't as attractive as the sleek Audi or muscular Nissan 370Z, it still has the ability to turn heads. And what the interior lacks in quality and cutting edge design, it more than makes up for with generous standard kit. But the GT86 is car that demands to be driven rather than looked at. Sharp and engaging handling, a characterful 2.0-litre flat four petrol engine and strong brakes help make the Toyota a number one choice for back road blasts.
