2012 Volkswagen Golf R Test Drive & Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/volkswagen/golf-r/2012/ If you are looking for a fun-to-drive compact car that features AWD and over 250 horsepower, the Golf R is a great choice. The R-Edition Golf is something very special and this model only represents the 3rd time in Volkswagen's history they have used the R status for one of their vehicles. The 2012 Volkswagen Golf R has a base price of $33,990.
The engine powering this cool hatchback is the same one found in the Audi TTS. Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 256 horsepower and 243 lb-ft. of torque. The only transmission offered is a 6-speed manual. Fuel economy is not bad for such a high performance car at 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway.
On the outside the Golf R looks great with its performance design and center exist Exhaust. The standard 18-inch alloy wheels look great along with the LED daytime running lights. On the inside the Golf R has ultra supportive sport seats wrapped in leather, a flat-bottom steering wheel, sporty pedals, and more.
Safety wise the 2013 Volkswagen Golf R comes standard with Electronic Stability Control, Anti-Lock Brakes, 6 air bags, and a crash response system. The Golf R is full of technological features and options. There is a touch screen sound system standard or you can upgrade to the navigation system. The Golf R also comes standard with Bluetooth.
A few drawbacks that consumers list on the Volkswagen GTi were that there was not enough power and there was no AWD system. Well Volkswagen has addressed both those problems with the new Golf R. This automobile is a rare vehicle as VW will only be making a few thousand models. If you are lucky enough to find one you cannot go wrong.
