2013 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG V12 Biturbo - Design
The new Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG: Effortlessly superior and stylish performanceAffalterbach, Mar 20, 2012
Affalterbach -- Mercedes-AMG is embarking on the 2012 roadster season in inimitably dynamic style: following on from the recent launch of the SL 63 AMG, the top eight-cylinder model, there now comes the presentation of the new
Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG, the V12 roadster in the line-up from the Stuttgart-based manufacturer. The AMG 6.0-litre V12 "biturbo" (twin-turbocharged) engine develops a maximum output of 463 kW (630 hp) and maximum torque of 1000 newton metres. The result: exceptional performance, impressive power delivery and effortlessly superior dynamics. As with the SLS AMG super sports car, the use of an all-aluminium bodyshell results in a drastic reduction in weight. The new SL 65 AMG is some 170 kilograms lighter than before. The expressive front section is dominated by the new "twin blade" radiator grille and the front apron's lower cross strut in high-sheen chrome.
"The combination of exclusive V12 dynamic performance and a refined roadster driving experience was already the defining attribute of the predecessor model. We are convinced that, with the new SL 65 AMG, we have developed an incomparably exciting high-performance vehicle for the small, but loyal community of fans", says Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
An important aspect of the new model is the intelligent lightweight construction which also contributes to reducing the fuel consumption. At 11.6 litres per 100 kilometres (NEDC combined) it represents a saving of 2.4 litres or 17 percent compared with the previous SL 65 AMG and simultaneously establishes a new benchmark in the twelve-cylinder petrol engine segment. A major role in the reduced fuel consumption figures is played by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission, the ECO start/stop‑function, in-engine measures to optimise efficiency and alternator management. Despite the significantly reduced fuel consumption, the maximum output of the AMG V12 6-litre biturbo engine is up from 450 kW (612 hp) to 463 kW (630 hp). The maximum torque is 1000 newton metres.
The unrivalled performance figures of the new SL 65 AMG translate into an exceptional driving experience: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4 seconds with the 200 km/h mark attained after just 11.8 seconds. The top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited). As well as offering stunning acceleration, the AMG twelve-cylinder biturbo engine impresses with its smooth running characteristics and its distinctive AMG V12 sound. It is a performance that reconciles effortless superiority and stylishness to perfection.

The Mercedes SL has always been a dream car, but it's the range-topping AMG versions that have regularly appeared on the driveways of the rich and famous.
This new SL63 AMG is lighter, faster, more powerful and more efficient than the old flagship, so could it be the best yet? New editor Sam Hardy travelled to the South of France to find out.
The new SL63 AMG is powered by a 530bhp 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and has a price tag of around £100,000. Mercedes also offers a Performance Package, which adds another £10,000 to the price, takes power to 557bhp and increases peak torque from 800Nm to 900Nm.

2014 Mercedes S-Class - assistance systems animation
Mercedes has officially unveiled the 2014 S-Class at the Airbus A380 delivery center in Hamburg, Germany.
Designed to become one of the most luxurious and advanced vehicles ever constructed, the 2014 S-Class has an evolutionary design that incorporates a sportier front fascia, a larger grille and a gentle slanting rear end. The sleek styling enables the model to have drag coefficient of 0.24 which is pretty impressive considering the pint-sized CLA has a drag coefficient of 0.23.
The All-New 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL. Athlete, Aesthete.
Featuring an all-aluminum bodyshell, the roadster has an evolutionary design which borrows a few cues from the SLK and SLS AMG. Notable highlights include a single bar grille, oversized headlights and a lightweight hardtop which can be raised or lowered in less than 20 seconds.
Inside, the cabin is elegantly appointed with leather seats, wood trim and metallic accents. There's also a 7-inch COMAND display and a new Frontbass system which has speakers in the footwells for "a concert hall ambience even with the top down."
Under the hood, two engines are available. The entry-level 3.5-liter V6 develops 306 PS (225 kW / 302 hp) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the car to accelerate 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and average 6.8 L/100 km (34.6 mpg US / 41.5 mpg UK).
The SL 500, on the other hand, uses a 4.7-liter V8 with 435 PS (320 kW / 429 hp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the convertible to rocket from 0-100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
In Germany, the SL 350 BlueEFFICIENCY will be priced from €93,534 while the SL 500 BlueEFFICIENCY starts at €117,096 (including 19% VAT).

2013 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG
A new Mercedes-Benz.
After dozens of spy photos and speculative artist renders since 2010, Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed the all-new Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG in conjuntion with the launch of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 W03 race car in Spain today. The announcement comes less than two months since the 2013 SL-Class made its world premiere at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG features the familiar M157 twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine that produces 529bhp (394 kW / 536 PS). Thanks to the all-aluminum bodyshell and assorted magnesium components the SL's body now weighs 242 pounds (110 kg) lighter than its steel bodied predecessor. The result is a vehicle that achieves greater performance running 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds (4.2 seconds with the AMG Performance Pack) and 30 percent combined fuel consumption savings with 28.5mpg and CO2 emissions at 231g/km compared to 328g/km for the previous generation.
In the videos, the SL63's appearance is brief but comes as no surprise as its front end looks quite similar although just slightly more aggressive than the standard 2013 SL-Class. Its front bumper fascia has larger air intake pockets with LED daytime running lights sitting inside and the grille features an all-new split-wing design. Side skirts are the same as the SL-Class while the rear end with its diffuser and four trapezoidal Exhaust tips were revealed in previous spy photos.
