Kia Sorento | 2013 | Pole Crash Test | NHTSA High Speed Camera | CrashNet1
A small-sized adult female crash test dummy is placed in the
driver's seat and is secured with a seat belt. The test vehicle,
angled at 75 degrees, is then pulled sideways at 20 mph (32km/h) into
a 25-cm diameter pole at the driver's seating location. This
test mimics a side impact crash involving a narrow, fixed
object like a utility pole or tree.

Vehicle Test Weight: 4017 lbs.
Overall: 4 Stars
Frontal: 4 Stars
Side: 5 Stars
Rollover: 4 Stars
Overall vehicle score and frontal crash ratings should ONLY be compared to
other vehicles of similar size and weight. Side crash rating results can be
compared across all classes because all vehicles are hit with the same
force by the same moving barrier or pole.
Thumbs up for the crash dummies!

When it was first introduced to the US, the Kia Sorento featured a
traditional SUV body-on-frame design. Now in its 2nd generation the Sorento
has morphed into a unibody crossover utility vehicle. Along with a
fundamental shift in structure, the Sorento now features optional third-row
seats, an aggressive new appearance and improved ride and handling.
