Accord EX - Identify this problem!!

This is my 97 Accord EX. It has the F22b1 motor, with about 158,000 miles on it. It runs great and gets decent mileage, except for one thing. It always takes 3 tries to start it. **SOMETIMES** it will fire right up on the first try, but what you see in this vid is what usually happens. NOBODY seems to know what is causing this. I've had numerous mechanics look at it, and they are all stumped. Here is a short list of parts I've replaced: 1. Spark plugs (NGK's) 2. Spark plug wires (NGK's) 3. Distributor cap 4. Distributor rotor 5. Ignition coil 6. Ignition control module 7. Ignition switch 8. Fuel filter 9. Air filter 10. Oxygen sensor 11. Main EFI Relay And even (to those who know what this is) a BG Induction Service, and a coolant flush and replacement. I regularly change the oil, and keep up with the preventative maintenance on this car. What the hell could this be? I'm running out of parts to replace chasing this elusive problem! PS: Check engine light was on for 2 things. Random/multiple cylinder misfire and rear oxygen sensor heater circuit malfunction.

Spark Plug Well Oil Leak Fix, Honda Accord - EricTheCarGuy
Spark Plug Well Oil Leak Fix, Honda Accord - EricTheCarGuy http://www.ericthecarguy.com/ I know I've promised this one for some time so here it is. If you have this problem I recommend replacing the seals in the valve cover first and then coming back to recheck for oil in the spark plug wells in about a month or so, if you find oil then I recommend performing this procedure. I can't stress enough how important it is to make sure everything is lined up correctly when you reinstall the rocker assembly, bad things can happen if you don't. --- Click below and Stay Dirty Visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com http://ericthecarguy.com/ Visit EricTheCarGuy Forum http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/default.aspx Visit my Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/EricTheCarGuy --- ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information.  EricTheCarGuy assumes no liability for property damage or injury incurred as a result of any of the information contained in this video. EricTheCarGuy recommends safe practices when working with power tools, automotive lifts, lifting tools, jack stands, electrical equipment, blunt instruments, chemicals, lubricants, or any other tools or equipment seen or implied in this video.  Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, no information contained in this video shall create any express or implied warranty or guarantee of any particular result.  Any injury, damage or loss that may result from improper use of these tools, equipment, or the information contained in this video is the sole responsibility of the user and not EricTheCarGuy.

How To Clean Your Car's Engine
I explain step by step how to clean your engine, this can be applied to any vehicle, special car may need to be taken with carburetor vehicles!

Honda Accord Ignition Switch Replacement
A fastener by fastener tutorial for testing, removing, and installing an ignition switch on a Honda Accord. I cover how to cause an intermittent switch to act up, test it for continuity to verify it's faulty, and how to remove the cylinder assembly from the vehicle so the electrical switch can be removed. Then I cover the 1990s to 2000s Honda ignition switch recalls and the special part numbers that go with them and reinstallation of the cylinder assembly to the vehicle. The shear bolt diameter and thread pitch is M8 X 1.25. Ignition Switch Recall Info: Honda TSB Number 02-031 Vehicles affected: 1997 Accord (L4), 1998-1999 Accord (L4 and V6), 1998-2000 Civic, 1997-1999 CRV, 1997-2000 Odyssey, and 1997-1999 Prelude. Intro and outro music by Kevin Macleod (Incompetech.com).

Honda Accord main relay replacement
I was having trouble with my '91 Honda Accord starting. I would turn the key, the engine would crank, but it would not start. I was told to remove my battery cable for a few min to reset the computer. And voila! It started. This happened 3 times in a week. After much researching, one solution kept coming up, the main relay assembly. It is the part that controls the signal to the fuel pump. It took very little time or tools. The part that was hard was getting to it. It was under the dash to the left of the steering wheel waaay up in the dash. It took some yoga moves, but I had it out and back in in about 35 min. I used a 10mm socket wrench with an extension and a small flat head screwdriver.

Honda Accord Fuel Filter Replacement
A fastener by fastener tutorial for replacing the fuel filter on a 1997 Honda Accord. This process applies to Accords manufactured from 1994 to 1997. Honda recommends replacement once every 2 years or 40,000 miles whichever comes first. While I have found many videos on replacing the fuel filters on the easier Civics I have understandably seen none for the Accords. The main reasoning being they are buried deep and are difficult to access and unless you know which tools to use they can look almost impossible to remove. I'll take you through it step by step and show you what tools you'll need to get the job done. Intro and outro music by Kevin Macleod (Incompetech.com).

How To Solve Honda Idle Problems - EricTheCarGuy
Visit me at: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/ Before posting questions about Honda idle problems please read this: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/8-Service-and-Repair-Questions-Answered-Here/41476-solving-honda-idle-issues-hunting-idle The viewers have chosen and this weeks video will be about solving Honda idle problems. I'm really not surprised as I get a lot of questions and requests about this very subject. Here are the links I promised in the video that will help you address specific issues mentioned in the video. How To Bleed a Cooling System http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUpXgAJ1gjU How to Check for Vacuum Leaks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CPqbaSgcok Reading Check Engine Light Codes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD05sPclLyE Diagnosing an Overheat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUzOTnsWImI Hopefully when your done checking all that stuff out you will have solved your Honda's idle problem, if not leave a comment or send me a message and I'll see what I can do just make sure you have tried all the stuff in the videos first as that saves me from typing so much. I also want to add my "Idle Speech" into the mix here: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/8-Service-and-Repair-Questions-Answered-Here/41475-solving-honda-idle-issues-rough-idle   There are a lot of things that can contribute to an idle issue, in fact in the end it may still be there to some degree because of the nature of that engine however here are some things to start with. First start with a good tune up, use NGK or Nippon Denso plugs, don't change the wires if they are OE, if they aren't OE you might consider NGK wires as they are very good and less expensive then OE.  A quality cap and rotor should be good.  A new air filter also helps. Don't change the PCV valve, if you see an aftermarket PCV valve in there put a Honda in, believe it or not I've seen idle issues caused by aftermarket PCV valves, the OE's last just about forever so you can easily justify the expense. Next a good valve adjustment, this goes a long way to smooth out the idle if done correctly, mess it up and things can get a lot worse though. While you have the valve cover off check the timing belt tension, if you feel a lot of slack this can cause the cam to 'chunk' as it spins causing a rough idle.  If you think the belt has been on there for some time then you might consider changing it and resetting the tension properly, if it's not ready for replacement you can reset the tension to take up the slack. DO NOT adjust the idle screw under any circumstances, it is set at the factory and that is the reason it was sealed in the first place. If you find that the seal has been broken and you have a low idle and you have done all of the above then you might turn the screw out a little to see if that helps the idle but only enough to try and bring it back to where it was before it was adjusted in the first place. Last clean the screen in the Idle Air Control valve, this can get clogged up with carbon over time and cause the flow through it to be restricted which can cause idle issues. If you still have a 'rough' idle after all of this THEN look to the engine mounts as you want to be sure the engine is running correctly before you go for those as the one in the back is a real pain to replace.

No Start, Diagnostic Basics - EricTheCarGuy
This video is a response to the Honda Main Relay video that I did. I've had a couple of people come to me with questions about no start conditions and how they should go about fixing them. This video is a starting point to a series that I plan to cover on this subject. The point I make in the video over and over is, don't make assumptions. Assumptions get expensive and can frustrate you to the point of homicide, follow these simple tips and it will lead you down the path of success. --- Click below and Stay Dirty Visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com http://ericthecarguy.com/ Visit EricTheCarGuy Forum http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/default.aspx Visit my Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/EricTheCarGuy --- Stay dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information.

1990 Honda Accord LX/EX Problems

O2 Sensor Basics - EricTheCarGuy
This will be the beginning of a series that I'm going to do on computer controlled systems. I've had quite a bit of response to the check engine light video and I think this is the next logical step. I've covered the basic operation of an O2 or oxygen sensor as the basis for closed loop operation. This will probably not be the last time I cover information on O2 sensors, there is so much more to these than meets the eye. Today i notice my electrical shuts off but the car still running but my radio and the speedometer keeps shutting off and turns on again. i was wondering if this could be the main relay problem? btw is there a difference between the main relay and the fuel pump relay? which one do i need or could it be something else?
