The rear bumper of this white Camry has deep cuts that we were able to permanently repair using the ScratchOut system: clean, fill, clean, and apply matching touch up paint. The damage is low on the car and solid in color and was a good candidate for touch up. We don't recommend touching up most bumper scuffs, but given the conditions (low, solid color), a touch up works well.

Smart As Paint How to repair a scratched
This video will show most of the processes I use in a 'SMART' (Small to Medium Area Repair Techniques) repair. Using the newly introduced water based paint systems. This one shows a bumper, but it is a similar process anywhere on the car. You will however, find repairing horizontal surfaces i.e. roof, boot and bonnet can be more difficult to 'fade out' .If there is an aspect I have left out, or I have not made clear in the time available, drop us a line and I will try to help. If you are in the Brighton area of the UK, I may be able to do it for you at a very reasonable rate.

How To Remove Scratches
Here is a how to video on how to remove scratches and individual scratches around door handles and other areas.
A Customer Rave:
"Let me first start by saying that I have never written a product testimonial in my life... for anything. I own a 2008 Dark Blue Metallic Audi A4. This car is my baby. I wash it by hand every weekend, and spend several hours washing and waxing it every couple of months. Several months ago the trunk of my car was viciously attacked by the mother of all bird droppings. By the time I had discovered the aerial assault, it had been baking in the hot Florida sun for hours. Wiping away the mess revealed a plop shaped etching in my paint that made me wince. I immediately purchased one of your competitors rubbing compounds. After applying it per their directions, all I had managed to do was scratch the clear coat so bad that my wince was now more of a convulsion. I then attempted to repair the damage by buffing and waxing the offending spot (yes, using another competitor's product) until my hands and arms ached. No luck, the convulsion inducing splatter was still visible in the harsh Florida sun. I searched the Internet for solutions until I came across this site and began to read other customer testimonials on how great your products are. I was quite skeptical, but decided to give ScratchX 2.0 a try. After about 3 or 4 applications the months old, etched in, convulsion inducing bird dropping and accompanying scratches are GONE! I then applied NXT Tech Wax 2.0 to my car and buffed it to a deep awe inducing shine. I couldn't be happier with your products. I am now a Meguiar's man for life. Thank You!"

This shows a minor scrape on a Mazda Miata. The scratch was feathered out, primed and painted using BASF paint. There are many ways to get the job done, this is what was done here:
1. The scratch was feathered out using 280 grit paper until each color was seperated around 1/2".
2. Next it was backsanded to allow space for the primer to adhere.
3. It was primed with 2 coats of Glasurit 285-10/20 direct to metal urethane primer and allowed to dry. It was primed with a devilbiss finishline HVLP gun with a 1.6 tip.
4. Next it was blocksanded using 320 paper, then final sanded with some 400-500 grit paper. Using a block is optional there but recommended.
5. After taping it up it was painted using RM Diamont basecoat in 3 coats. Each coat was allowed to flash about 5 minutes before the next one. Then 15 minutes before clearing. An Iwata LPH400 was used to apply the basecoat at about 20 psi.
6. The clear coat used here was BASF DC5335 Glamour clear. It was applied in 2 coats with about 10 minutes between coats. It was applied using an Iwata W400 with about 26 PSI at the gauge.
A few dirt nibs were colorsanded and polished afterwards.
How to Repair a Cracked Bumper
Visit http://www.refinishnetwork.com for more auto body repair information. This is a bumper repair on a Chrysler 300 that has a split in the rear bumper cover. Shown here is Kent Repair Epoxy adhesive, Evercoat Polyflex and BASF urethane primer.
To start the bumper is washed to inspect for further damages. There is a small tear that may not be visible on the video but there is a clear hole in the cover.
The hole is first tapered out on both sides and reinforced on the back and front with epoxy. The epoxy is sanded fairly straight with a DA sander but final blocked with flexible polyester putty. You can simply finish in epoxy and it would make for a better job, however it sands much tougher.
Removing Deep Scratches By Hand (we now use Xpert Polishes)
I get alot of emails everyday from all over the world asking me if you can remove scratches by hand so I thought it would be appropriate to shoot a video on this very subject here to help out everyone. By the way I now use Xpert Polishes and Sealers to get even better results, you can get them at www.georgesmobiledetail.com
Remember that most people do not have the right equipment to do this job and using a machine can be pretty uncomfortable and intimidating at the same time.
All you have to do is follow my instructions on the video. It really does not matter what name products you use just as long as you have the right products to do the job.
Remember also that you have to use 2000/2500 grit wet/dry to be able to sand this out by hand. If you go heavier than 2000 grit, then you wont be able to refinish the area by hand.
Be patient doing this because the more you do this the better the finish.
I hope this helps everyone out and I would really appreciate some good comments on this.
