If you're looking for a shiny Mustang show car then you might as well stop reading now. If you're looking for a track ready car with serious power then you're looking in the right place. This '99 Cobra SVT was the instructor�s car at the Bondurant School of High Performance. These cars are not available in any showroom or dealership. They are custom ordered from Ford specifically for Bondurant. Hand picked off the assembly line; they receive spot welding to strengthen the chassis. Then they are shipped to Roush for a complete disassembly and rebuilt to Bondurant's specifications. Let me say again that this was an instructor's car. The students drove modified Mustang GTs so let that be a piece of mind knowing a professional was behind the wheel.
This car is not sparkling and shiny. There are very minor cosmetic blemishes, a little clear coat chipping is apparent in a few places. Considering what this car was made to do it is in absolutely fantastic shape. The full Cobra interior is still in place. You still get power windows, power steering, ABS with a default switch, power locks, and AC. For a power hungry track car it has all the everyday conveniences. A top of the line Recaro Technology driver's seat is in place along with a Simpson 5 point harness belt with cam lock. RJS racing window nets, a 6 point fully integrated Roush safety roll bar, and a Halon fire suppression system have all been installed on the car for a great deal of added safety. Having the ability to go from the street to the track in seconds safely is something you rarely find in a car of this caliber.
Under the hood is of course the SVT Cobra 4.6L 4V engine with over 320 horsepower. I know your dying to know the mods that have been done to this car so here they are: Emission controls removed, Custom Bondurant engine calibration, custom H-pipe with catalytic convertors removed, custom cooling system including a production 6.8L V10 water pump, 2001 SVT Cobra R radiator, engine driven fan with custom shroud and 18 inch electric cooling fan. This car stays cool. Ready for more? 2001 SVT Cobra R engine oil cooler, relocated truck battery in an explosion proof box with quick disconnect terminals and master switch. The transmission/drive train is an SVT Cobra Tremec T-45 five-speed with carbon fiber blocking rings which were hand assembled by Roush. B and M Ripper Shifter, custom steel driveshaft with safety hoop, productions 3.55:1 axel ratio with limited slip. The fuel system is a 22 gallon Kevlar-Polycarbonate racing fuel cell with custom stainless steel and braided fuel lines. The front suspension consist of two Eibach 800lb per inch springs, Monroe struts with custom calibration, a productions 1.10 inch diameter hollow sway bar, and modified alignment settings. For better grip: Camber- 3.2 degrees negative, caster- 4.0 degrees positive, toe .10 degrees negative. In the rear are Eibach 350lb per inch springs, Monroe struts with custom calibration, and a 1 inch diameter solid sway bar. A custom torque arm and custom Pan hard bar have also been installed. For stopping power the brakes consist of PBR Australia Magnesium Custom SVT cobra calipers, Brembo blank race rotors, Performance Friction 90 compound race brake pads, and custom brake cooling ducts. An extra set of ceramic pads also come with the ride. The wheels are 18 x 9 inch Cobra R Racing wheels wrapped in Nitto NT555 Extreme tires. The tires in the front are brand new. As you can see, nothing was missed when putting this car together.
The car has just received new ball joints, outer tie rods and spring isolators; installed by an ASE master mechanic. All service records from Bondurant are accounted for as well. The car has 27K miles and has only been run on fully synthetic motor oil. This car is actually very rare apart from its modifications. The cars are generally crushed when they are no longer used. There are 3 other sister cars, one has been sold to another driving school, the second has been sold with no title and is no longer street legal, and the last was converted to a Cobra R spec and is in Arizona at $30,000 with no title. We consider ourselves lucky to have such a special vehicle among us at Streetside Classics and are eager to see who picks this car up first. The car has a clear, unbranded DOT NC title. 2004 Vortech Mustang GT dyno pull
MMR900 shortblock, ARP everything, stock HCI setup, longtubes, o/r x pipe, magnapacks, afm powerpipe, 31x12x3" FMIC, supporting mods, etc etc.. Vortech V1 S trim Boosted, 13.5lbs at ~6200rpm. Too embarrassed to post the numbers since it was a 95 degree day in the shop, and timing was being pulled hard up top. Will have another video soon on a cooler Dyno night!
And this is a loaded MustangDyno with stock 3.27 gears. The pull started at 2300rpm in 4th gear and went to 6200ish. That is why it seems so long.
