Wrenching results. CB's old gal fires up under Grumpy's expertise. Over two days, Grumpy set me on fire twice (torch), CB poisoned me (parts cleaner in my beer) and it was all worth everything. Better days I think I will never know. God bless friends and old Ford steel.

The first start and initial test run of the Orenda type 14 turbojet that we have been working on for almost a

It's been a lot of work, and now it's all on the line as we crank this baby

A special note: this is not a hot start, but fairly typical of the older

Jahzzar - Breaking Bad
The Death of a V8 RX7
My 302 powered FB RX7 decided after months of abuse to throw two rods on my
way home from work. It put a hole in the oil pan and two holes in the
block but still I drove it home. I decided since nothing was savable to
take it out back and finish it off.

Starting a 1966 Chevy V8 after 10 yrs. Idle
I really didn't think we could pull this off, but on the first try the old
Chevy started, and with a bang I might add. We started it a second time and
it ran smoother, so I think it was a job well done. The total list of
things we did were new plugs, a new battery, adding oil to the cylinders,
spraying ether in the carburetor ( caused the fireball), and jumping it
when we turned it over.

Rap 24 hp semidiesel, second start attempt.
This video illustrates what happends when these two stroke semidiesels run
out due to too much oil in the crankcase. With my left hand, I block the
injection pump, so from that time the engine run on lube oil only, no
diesel at all. I have heard lots of stories about this from decades ago but
this is the first time, to my knowledge, that it is captured on video.
Luckily we had blocked most of the air intake prior to starting and ended
at somewhat over 1000 rpm. Max operating rpm is 425-450. With full air
supply, I would guess this engine would reach thousands of rpm and I could
only guess what would have happened then...
The electric glowplug short circuited so we had to rely on the propane
burner which had slightly low temperature. In this startattempt, we used an
acetylene burner and got the glowplug bright red. The crankcase was,
unfortunately, filled with too much oil so the engine was running on its
lube oil from the crankcase instead of diesel. Still some trouble with the
fuel injection, doesn't feel right when injecting diesel manually.

Today I started the jeep project engine for the first time.
I do all and everything on the cars myself and this Jeep is a personal
I always lubricate all engine parts with Motor Honey but if possible I also
use a pump and prime the engine with oil before start up.
Also make sure to prime the fuel system by running the fuel pump and
letting air out of the valve on the right side of the engine,
The valve looks like a large tire valve and has a cap on it. I am very
happy it started straight away.
Next job is to install the custom 3 inch system and I will load a clip of
it running after it is finished in a few days.
Let me know if you have any questions about this project or other
mechanical problems and I will do my best to help you out.
I also have pictures of the project on Google+ just look for Rik Bor.
NOTE: Since my engine has a few modifications and now has high compression
I was shocked how much it detonated.
The PCM was running this engine as if it was stock so I had to reset the
PCM to factory settings.
Resetting PCM instructions : 1 Disconect the positive terminal and earth it
out on the body for 30 seconds then reconect it. 2 Turn on the ignition but
do not start engine. 3 Turn headlights on then off. 3 Turn of the ignition
Your PCM is now reset to factory settings and will start learning again.
