Boss 429 dyno blow up!
Boss 557 on Dyno when everything goes wrong. Had to rush for Dyno time and did not have billet flywheel. We used stock 429 flywheel. Made 6 runs, this was the 7th. 850 hp before the blow.

After watching this a few times, I have determined that my comments are quite ignorant, don't let my remarks sway your judgment, I was VERY PISSED about having to blow this car up! The owner was not a dumbass, my brain was BOILING with all kinds of hateful thoughts because of this program. I still blame the Gov't as a whole. This is a car enthusiast's worst nightmare.
I don't know how I can ever trust these bureaucrats with health care when they approve of a program like this.

5spd manual trans, car was showing 23.4mpg avg at time of destruction. i really respect this car, it's such a shame it had to go this way.

take one stock engine, a couple of morons who can't tune, a megasquirt with no knock sensing, some idiot who decides to proceed with Boost soaring off the guage + rod knock and you get a bunch of scattered parts...congratulations tools!

This old Renault was heading for the crusher before we got the chance to wreck it first. Then the drive shaft snapped so there was only 1 thing left to do! It takes abit of doing but we got there in the end. Engine explosion contest- Engine blows up - no oil or coolant- motor explodes minnesota
Saw this at the Early Iron car show at the International Falls Bass tournament Aug. 28, 2010 in International Falls, Minnesota. In a 50/50 money-raising contest, spectators guessed how long it would take for the engine to blow-up in this mini-van with NO OIL or coolant with the winning time getting 1/2 the money raised.
At about 1.5 minutes, the engine started threw out red hot connecting rods and wrist pins onto the trailer below the van, but it surprisingly continued to run! I think the final time until complete engine melt-down was 2mins 33 seconds . Sounded much worst than my phone recorded. You could literally hear the pistons grinding against cylinder walls before it seized. All in all, it was all good fun and the money raised from this "engine explosion contest" went to a good cause.
Lots of people posting below that this old van should have been given to someone less fortunate, but it was pulled from a junkyard and likely on way to crusher. Definitely not safe for the road, but thoughts are in right place.
