This is my humble video on the tearing down of a 4T65E-HD Transmission. I am NOT a professional mechanic, nore do I make any claims to be. I bought the car knowing it had a trans problem and figured it would be a good project car as well as my daily driver. Demonstrated on a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD.
In this video, we demonstrate how to perform a full gasket-and-filter service on an automatic transmission. Most vehicle manufacturers suggest that this process be performed on regular intervals - usually 30,000 miles or 4 years, whichever comes first - but some manufacturers don't recommend this process at all or have designed their transmissions to not need filter replacement.
Be sure to check your vehicle's owner's manual for specifics for your vehicle, such as whether and how often to perform this service and what fluids/oils to use.

Automotive Robo Tech was called for a 93 Chevrolet Lumina, with a transmission shifting complaint. The customer had a transmission issue and had a used transmission installed. After the installation the vehicle still wasn't shifting right. I, immediately verified the complaint on a test drive, and found that this car had no first or fourth gear. With the scan tool connected, I looked for codes set in memory, and none were found. My next step was to verify the transmission fluid level, which was also correct.
The next test was to use the scan tool and try to command shift solenoid A, shift solenoid B, and the TCC solenoid, while listening for an audible click. This test can also be done manually, with a current injection probe.
Ok, I could only hear the TCC solenoid operating. According to the wire diagram, the TCC solenoid has it's own power on pin A, and both shift solenoids share a power on pin E. Wow, Seems like we were having a .....

2010-12-20 : GM 3800 series II engine and transmission removal from 1995 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight. A tree had fallen upon this 132,000 mile car, so the drivetrain was salvaged. It is now available for a future project.
