A new Audi.
Audi has released the first renderings of the A5 DTM concept, ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Internally named "R17," the A5 DTM will replace the four-door A4 DTM with which Audi has won the DTM title four times since 2004.
The company was quiet on specifics, but said the car has a high-strength carbon-fiber monocoque with a steel roll cage that is fully-compliant with the latest safety regulations. Furthermore, power will be provided by a V8 engine - that is adopted from the A4 DTM - with approximately 460 PS (340 kW / 456 PS).
While the renderings show a pre-facelift model, Audi says the production vehicle will closely resemble the 2012 A5 Coupe which is slated to go on sale later this year.

Gravelrama 2010 #6 Hill Climb
Gravelrama 40 was held August 25-30 this year in Cleves, Ohio outside of
Cincinnati. The East Coast 4 Wheel Drive Association event includes rock
crawling, bracket sand drag racing, class sand drag racing, uphill drag
racing, pea gravel hill climb, obstacle course, and even a parade through
town. The hill climb is a fan favorite and didn't disappoint this year
with well over two hundred runs.
New Audi RS 5 Coupe 2012 (cool engine sound)
The RS 5 Coupé is the star athlete of the A5 family. It offers the power
and handling of a powerful sports car packaged in the body of an alluringly
elegant coupe. The design has now gained several new, sharp accents, with
numerous features that characterize the other A5 models also making their
way to the RS 5.
The Audi RS 5 Coupé uses a high-revving, normally aspirated V8 displacing
4,163 cc. This engine is closely related to the V10 that powers the R8
high-performance sports car. The 4.2 FSI delivers 331 kW (450 hp) at 8,250
rpm, with the peak torque of 430 Nm (317.15 lb-ft) available between 4,000
and 6,000 rpm. The engine has a specific output of 108.1 hp per liter of
displacement. The potent response, the eager revving and the rich,
melodious sound mark the V8 as a thoroughbred racing engine.
Hand-built at the plant in Györ, Hungary, the 4.2 FSI launches the Coupé
from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 4.6 seconds. Audi will increase the
electronically governed top speed from 250 to 280 km/h (155.34 to 173.98
mph) upon request. Thanks to the combination of technologies from the Audi
modular efficiency platform, which also includes a recuperation system, the
high-tech V8 consumes significantly less fuel on average than its direct
With its high efficiency and its long top gear, the standard seven-speed S
tronic also contributes to the good fuel economy. Drivers can let the
lightning-fast dual-clutch transmission shift automatically or change gears
themselves using the selector lever or with paddles on the steering wheel.
The integrated launch control program provides for rocket-like starts by
managing the engagement of the clutch at mid-level revs.

DTM Golden Years DTM From HIstory BMW E30 M3 Mercedes Benz190 E 2.3-16
The Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (German Touring Car Championship, or
DTM) was a touring car racing series held from 1984 to 1996. Originally
based in Germany, it held additional rounds elsewhere in Europe and later
The original DTM had resumed racing with production based cars, as the
former Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft had switched to Group 5 in the mid
1970s and even to expensive Group C sportscars in the 1980s, leading to its
decline. Since 2000, a new DTM has been run as the Deutsche Tourenwagen
Masters, again organised by ITR.
The original DTM was started in 1984 with cars entered by privateer teams
and under FIA Group A rules, but was extensively modified throughout the
years, allowing more modifications. In the late 1980s, works teams joined
the DTM, and it became one of the most popular motorsport in Europe. In
1993, the Group A rules were abandoned in favor of a more liberalised 2.5 L
engine category called FIA Class 1 Touring Cars, with extensive use of ABS,
four-wheel drive, electronic driver aids and carbon fibre chassis, the
former three were technologies that were banned from F1. Opel,
Mercedes-Benz and Alfa Romeo all fielded works teams after Audi and BMW had
Based on the 1986 model year E30 3-Series, the first M3 was introduced with
a 2.3 L I4 S14B23 engine (also known as S14). The engine design was based
on various BMW parts: basic block layout from the M10 4-cylinder (found in
the 2002 and 320 series) overbored and reinforced to similar specifications
of the BMW M88 inline-6. The valve train and head architecture from BMW's
M1 and, later, M6 inline-6-cylinder was adopted for aggressive breathing.
In contrast to later M3 iterations, the E30 M3 was campaigned by BMW as
well as other racing teams including Prodrive and AC Schnitzer competing in
many forms of racing including rally as well as German, British, Italian,
Belgian, French, and Australian touring. The production of the E30 road car
was to homologate the M3 for Group A Touring Car racing. It was to compete
with the "2.3-16V"-model of the Mercedes-Benz W201 190E that was introduced
in 1983. In its final years of competition, the 2.5-litre S14 engine in
full race trim was capable of over 250 hp (190 kW) naturally aspirated.
AMG 1993 DTM competition car
AMG was not part of Mercedes-Benz when the 190 was first produced, but a
separate racing and tuning company. As AMG had a lot of racing experience,
they were tuning all the factory petrol engines for the customers and 190 E
was one of them. Engine tuning added 25 bhp (19 kW). They fitted
aerodynamic features (spoilers) improving Cw and high speed stability,
alloy wheels, leather interior and larger engines up to 6-litre V8's. After
victories in DTM with AMG 190 E 16V's, Mercedes acquired AMG on January 1,
1999. The 190 E 3.2 AMG was the first model sold through Mercedes-Benz
dealerships with Mercedes-Benz new car warranty. About 200 complete cars
were made, in black or silver: they were very expensive (about $90,000).
Besides 200 complete 190 E 3.2 AMG's, Mercedes-Benz sold AMG body kits and
3.2l AMG engines separately, so there are 190's fitted with those features
at the factory or retrofitted. Sporty 190E 3.2 AMG straight-six 12-valve
engines produced 234 bhp (174 kW), and reached 260 km/h (162 mph).
