1968 Olds 442 Tribute Car With 455 and Muncie 4-Speed Driving
This is a 1968 Olds 442 Replica or Tribute car. It started out as a Cutlass S 2-door hardtop with a 350 Rocket and column shift automatic. I removed all traces of things that would say it was a cutlass. I put on original 68 442 parts such as grill, emblems, glove box door with emblem, trunk rocket emblem and original factory hurst shifter with 442 molded in. I put in a 1969 455 from a Toranado that I rebuilt and added an Edelbrock Torker intake manifold and headers. It is pushing 400 HP. You could not get a 68 or 69 442 with a 455 from GM. GM had a 400 Cubic inch limit on A body cars. Olds got around it by having a third party (Hurst) put 455's in a limited number of cars but they were not made by GM or Olds. Also they were automatics and this one is a 4-speed so you could not order this car ever. It has vintage autometer gauges from the 70's as well as vintage cragar SS mags. 15" x 8.5 on the rear and 14" x 7.5 on the front. I'm thinking of selling it but I'm not sure yet. The engine has around 4 miles on the rebuild. It has a new flowmaster Exhaust system and a muncie M-21 4-speed with factory original shifter boot for non console cars. I have already painted the door jams black in preparation for painting the car all black with a gold stripe along the bottom of the car from front to rear.

1970 Chevelle, 496 BBC, Garret 4718, wastegate and regulator weren't cooperating and max Boost was 4.5 lbs. Goal for pump gas is 15 psi, race gas 24 - 26 psi. Max HP and TQ on these runs were 644 HP & 729 TQ. Base line run, no Boost, was 531 HP / 558 TQ.

1970 Chevelle 496 Street Car Pump Gas 11 sec
This is my wife and her 496 Chevelle. Pump gas, flat tappet,dual plane, 3:31 gears, 3500 stall,full Exhaust, 3800 lbs, old ET Streets. She uses it to get groceries and takes it to her Mary Kay appointments. All three of our kids LOVE riding in the back and going cruising. She averages 13 mpg on the highway with the 750 double. Update 7/07- On 93 octane, the budget 496 made 548HP at 5900 rpm and 574TQ with big tube (2 1/4") headers at the crank on a Superflow 902 Dyno. UPDATE 11/08- After three years and 5k street miles, 10 Dyno pulls, and 50+ passes at the track, Leah has run a best of 11.57 @115.48 on pump gas and M/T Drag radials, all motor. We tried a Powershot system on it 11/1/08, and with a 1/2 throttle launch went 11.07@120mph.

**BEST 11.61 @ 121mph, 1.69 60ft all at 3800lbs!!! Had the mph for a bottom eleven and still didnt have all the bugs worked out. Didnt get to turn the wick up to much, only ended up shifting at 7200, though the motor makes peak power at 7600, so there is much more left in it. NEW COMBO : all new 427, G-Force GF4A 4 speed, etc.
