Performance Muffler Upgrades [S2 Ep. 4-4]
In the world of hot rodding, when gear heads gather around and start discussing their projects, invariably the conversation drifts into speculation of what the smallest thing is that you can successfully put a V8 engine in. Well today on GEARZ, Stacey pretty much puts an end to that speculation by building a V8 powered BARSTOOL!! It's part go-cart... part garden tractor... part insane... and ALL hot rod. Which of course is what GEARZ is all about! If you like WILD.. then you don't want to miss this show! Then Stacey dives into some Muffler Tech to show you what kind of mufflers there are on the market, and give you some tips that might help you make the right decision when the time comes to stick some cool mufflers on your machine!
Mustang Exhaust Shoot-Out - Dynomax VT vs. Flowmaster 40 Series Mufflers
This video compares five Exhaust set-ups on my 1966 Ford Mustang, including open Exhaust, Dynomax VT mufflers with/without tailpipes, and Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers with/without tailpipes. The car has a stroked 302 with 10.2:1 compression, a solid roller cam, and aluminum heads. This car is a weekend driver, not a daily driver. I've been struggling to decide which mufflers sound best, so I welcome your honest feedback!
DynoMax Mobile Sound Cart

borla vs magnaflow .m4v
New borla catback for my sra swap on 03 cobra.
Exhaust is stock manifolds, o/r X (unsure of brand) and GT "s type" Exhaust.
2nd part of video Exhaust is stock manifolds, o/r X, and magnaflow IRS kit.
The borla is noticebly louder in person at idle and at higher rpms. The sound of the magnaflow on video actually sounds more wide open, though it was quite a bit quieter.
67 GTO 3" exhaust w/ Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers
Test run of the new 3" Exhaust kit on my Goat. If anyone is interested, the set up here is a '73 SD 455 bored .60 over, .502 lift cam, factory 400 heads, an air gap style intake, Holley 600 cfm marine double pumper carb, headers, and Dynomax Super turbo mufflers.
Porter Mufflers on a Flathead Ford
Porter Mufflers on a 1948 Ford Flathead. www.portermufflers.com Nice sound, excellent quality. Made in the USA. The system we had to build was complex because of the air ride system on the car, but it has plenty of ground clearance and sounds great.
