The Dodge Dart GT was surprisingly sporty and cool looking back in the '60s. Sadly, everything cool from this decade was revamped and ruined in the '70s. In 1973 my parents bought a new Dart, and it was the most boring, conservative car imaginable. (Thank you, Chrysler motors.)
Why the perky "Dodge Rebellion Gal" is riding a flat-car loaded with dynamite is never explained. But TV advertising is not known for making much sense. Perhaps she's going to blow up a Ford dealership or a government building in protest of the Vietnam war. Lovely Pamela Austin made over a dozen of these ads in 1966-1967. Most conclude with her shouting "The Dodge rebellion wants you!" She did commercials for the Charger, Polara, Coronet, Monaco, trucks and vans -- and all in the same turtleneck sweater ensemble.
Following the commercial I added two clips of her from "It Takes a Thief" (1968) and Kissin' Cousins (1964) opposite Elvis and that other '60s siren, Yvonne Craig. Notice how -- in true "I Dream of Jeannie" fashion -- all the bikini-clad girls have their navels carefully covered up (sparing the family audience from impure thoughts). Sorry about the less than perfect video quality.
Austin had a number of acting roles. In "The Twilight Zone" she was the model of the perfect girl in the futuristic "Number 12 Looks Just Like You" (1964). She starred in "The Perils of Pauline" (1967), appeared on "Laugh-in", "The Wild Wild West" and was also in "Evil Roy Slade" (1971).
Film credits:
"Kissin' Cousins" is owned by MGM/Four-Leaf Productions.
"It Takes A Thief is owned by Universal Studios (TV division)
I am invoking the Fair Use definition (for the purpose of comparison and/or education) for these brief film clips. No copyright infringement intended. I do not own these clips. Hopefully the miserable YouTube Overlords who have made my life a living hell in the past will, for a change, give me a freakin' break and not kick this, and/or me, off this site.

1968 Dodge Coronet & Polara Station Wagon TV Commercial "Dodge Fever" theme
1968 was the year Dodge introduced the "Dodge Fever" theme. They still used a Dodge girl to introduce their commercials. Note that the music in the background is a version of "Fever" made famous by Peggy Lee. Approx. 30,100 Coronet 500 Wagons were produced and 16,900 Polara and Monaco wagons were produced in 1968.
