Listen close and you can hear that 5000hp Cat growlin. PART I.
An empty Utah Rwy train has just left Martin. The third unit is a MK5000c with 5000hp of CAT V12 3612 in its hood. Turn it up and listen close, and you can that unit growling. Bet they would sound good with a 3 unit set. MK was the first to build a high horsepower locomotive, with GE following about a year later with a 6000 hp locomotive. In 2001, Utah Railway returned the units because of main bearing failure. The 3612's where pulled out, and replaced with prime movers from retired UP SD50's. There where returned with one less cooling fan (3 instead of 4) and 1500 hp less, and classed as SD50-3.

A Union Pacific coal train tries to get a run up the DRG&W's line to Soldier Summit. Three units up front 6562-8206-7048, three mid-train 6630-125-222. HD 5,000 Horsepower Throttling Up!
This train had two engines online, an EMD GP38 and an EMD SD40. These two locomotives feature 645 cubic inch, two-stroke V16 engines capable of a max of 900 RPM. The first engine features a roots blower and is capable of producing 2000 HP and the second engine features a turbocharger and is capable of producing 3000 HP.
The train was NECR 606. They made a stop in Amherst to pick up some cars on the siding.

South bound coal train with CSX 390-277 are at Frisco, TN. The 277 has a fuel leak, and is spraying fuel over the hot Exhaust. We didn't see it, but its just a matter of time before it starts burning. CSX Broken Knuckle *RARE* **MUST SEE**
**READ DESCRIPTION** A CSX autorack passes slowly by. After speeding up, the train goes into emergency due to a broken coupler back in the train. CSX workers move quickly to fix the coupler and get back underway. The autorack is then met by an intermodal led by an SD70MAC.
CNW starts its battle for Donner Pass.

Bad Track at Portage Road

B&LE SD18's smoking it up as it gets the N/B underway... 8/02/1989
Its August 2nd, 1989, and the B&LE SD18's are in control, and really get down to business to get this northbound train under way. They have just picked up a loaded train out of one of the last remaining mines on the railroad near Harmerville, and it will not be long before the two SD38's shoving hard on the rear have the train up to track speed. The SD40-3 ex-tunnel motors are not even a thought at this time, and will not arive on the property for nearly another 10 years. Just all non-turbo charged EMD's running all out, and smoking it up good. The jingleing you hear as the cars pass by are the outside brake hangers on the old B&LE hoppers. Thanks for watching.
