Could anyone tell me what might be wrong with my car?
I have had the alternator checked twice
The battery is only a week old
This video was right after an all night 2 amp trickle charge
ALL conncetions to the battery are clean and have bare shiny metal showing
All grounds for the battery are secure and the wires are not crackly
The car occasionally does start, but flashes the red battery light before leaving it on and then dying. If the car dies when its not running, that leads me to believe its not the starter, and the battery is new. The car does not even start half of the time, despite a fully charged battery, which tells me its not the alternator, plus the fact that I have had it checked twice in the last two weeks. Anyone got any ideas?
GM passlock problem
2001 Impala Base 114,xxx miles.
Runs & drives perfect, except....
GM replaced BCM computer 9-09. Accomplished nothing.
I replaced ignition switch w/NAPA part 10-09-09. Worked great for 2 weeks.
Then started having the same ole trouble.
I replaced ignition key tumbler switch w/passlock sensor w/NAPA part 10-25-09.
No problems until this week 1-13-10.
Still doing the same exact thing it was doing before I replaced anything.
Hasn't started any day this week. 10 minute wait, etc. will not work. Starts when it wants to.
Anyone have any ideas on how to properly repair this chronic problem?
----NOTE----the problem is fixed.
Cleaned the contacts on the BCM computer fuse.
That's all it took. If your car is exhibiting symptoms exactly like mine did, I'd try that 1st.

GM Pass Key II Malfunctions: Bypassing V.A.T.S System
Your car won't start? SECURITY light steady lit or flashing? More then likely it is the Vehicle Anti Theft System (V.A.T.S) at fault. Over time the resister pellet imbedded in your car key wears out from years of inserting and removing from the ignition lock cylinder. Here is a cheap way to bypass it, so you can get back on the road.
General Motors PASSLOCK® anti-deterrent features in a 99 Pontiac Grand Am 2.4L
So, once again GM has done it. They invented something that failed and yet again they don't have a solution. This feature should not be added to any car, even if someone steals the car, the odds of this system to stop working are zero to none. Once WE THE OWNERS need to replace an ignition cylinder or an ECM, then the system fails for us. And the Dealership has NO CLUE how to fix it other than the helpful tip to crack the ECM open and replace the "memory chip". We all know that the memory chip is integrated and soldered on these years models. There is a reason why I love FORD!

This video was filmed to show GM car owners who wish to disable OnStar without impacting vehicle performance or operations other than the features of OnStar. We recorded it without using technical jargon terms; we recorded it just in layman terms.
My personal reasons for disabling OnStar is because I learned it was draining my battery and my car did not start. For info check out my battery replacement video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_FZS9IUta4
Once OnStar is down, the following will not work:
1.The built-in cellular calling feature
2.The OnStar Blue button to call OnStar for assistance
3.The Emergancy Red-Cross button
4.If Airbag deploys in an accident, OnStar will not be notified and help will not arrive
5.In some vehicles like the Cadillac the voice to navigation feature will not work
6.The monthly emails for Vehicle Diagnostics
7.To have OnStar remotely unlock your doors or locate your vehicle if you forget where you parked
8.Remote listening feature
The process is fully reversible and all the above features can resume working.
Additional info I found in my OnStar terms when I bought the car:
Per Onstar's Official Terms and Conditions:
THE INFORMATION WE GET FROM YOUR CAR INCLUDES THINGS SUCH AS DATA ABOUT ITS OPERATION, ABOUT YOUR USE OF OnStar SERVICES, ABOUT WHERE YOUR CAR IS JUST BEFORE AND DURING REQUESTS FOR OnStar SERVICE IN YOUR CAR, AND (DEPENDING ON YOUR OnStar Equipment) DATA ABOUT ACCIDENTS INVOLVING YOUR CAR (for example, the direction from which your car was hit).
You agree that we can, subject to applicable law, use any of this information to: (a) provide OnStar services to you or your Car (including sharing that information with roadside assistance providers, emergency service providers, or others, as needed); (b) check or maintain your OnStar Equipment; (c) provide information to the maker of your Car about the Car's performance and to enable the maker of your Car to comply with law; (d) help you or managers of fleets of Cars (if your Car is part of a fleet) to maintain the Car; (e) evaluate and improve our service; (f) enforce this agreement with you or others; (g) prevent fraud or misuse of OnStar service; (h) comply with legal requirements, valid court orders and exigent circumstances; (i) protect the rights, property, or safety of you or others; (j) offer you new or additional products or services; or (k) perform market research.
In my next video I will show you how to replace OnStar with off the market device ($99) and all the features of OnStar will come back! You will be controlling your vehicle from your cellular phone using text messaging and email:
1.The built-in cellular calling feature will work with off the market $99 device
2.The OnStar Blue button to call OnStar for assistance will start to work except it will call a phone number of your choice
3.The Emergency Red-Cross button will call 911 and auto send your vehicle location without your intervention. All you have to do is press the Emergency Red-Cross button
4.If Airbag deploys in an accident, 911 will be contacted with your vehicle location without your intervention.
5.Receive on demand Vehicle Diagnostics to your email
6.Remotely unlock your doors or locate your vehicle if you forget where you parked right from your cell phone
7.Remote listening feature (spy feature) lets you listen inside your vehicle from your cell phone
The above features will work from your specific cell phone ONLY so it is secure!
Let me know if you have any questions and Off course this video comes without any warranties (ON YOUR OWN RISK!)
Battery replacement on Impala SS
My Onstar drained the car battery when it uses cellular to try and update diagnostics with the systems of Onstar. Since I park six floors underground, cellular reception is non existent and dumb Onstar kept at it until the battery died. You'd think the idiots at GM would update the firmware and not do this when the engine is off. This is the third battery I replaced on the warranty and now as you will see from the video we did something different!

car battery repair
My blog http://extreme-check-engine-light-codes.com/blog/ made a car battery repair video to show you how to test and repair a bad battery. Before installing a battery on your car, always load test the battery to check if the battery cell inside is damaged. This is particularly true when installing cheap rebuilt battery which could be defective. It is also necessary to check the engine circuit drain on the battery after installing it to make sure the battery will keep charged the following morning.
In short, car battery repair includes battery load testing to check the integrity of the battery and making sure there is no battery drain after it is installed.
