2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet Official [HD] (Option Auto News)
911 Carrera S Cabriolet
3.8-litre boxer engine with 400 hp (294 kW); rear-wheel drive, seven-speed manual transmission, optional seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK); acceleration zero -- 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, with PDK in 4.5 seconds (4.3 seconds with Sport Chrono Package); top speed 301 km/h, with PDK 299 km/h; fuel consumption (NEDC) 9.7 l/100 km, CO2 229 g/km; with PDK 8.9 l/100 km CO2 210 g/km.
The new Cabriolets are the 911s with emotional appeal. With the top down, they convey a unique abundance of intense driving impressions between outstanding performance and calm comfort. This is based on the light, stiff body in conjunction with the long wheelbase. Reduced weight and a longer wheelbase compared with the predecessor generation are complemented by the wider front track and larger wheels. In terms of its performance, the new 911 Cabrio raises the bar not by an inch but by a yard. This is down to a precisely synchronised package of new and enhanced systems. Electro-mechanical power steering and, in the case of the Carrera S, Porsche Torque Vectoring with differential lock are featured as standard -- in conjunction with PDK even regulated. If so desired, the new 911 Carrera ups the ante in driving dynamics terms with options such as PDCC roll stabilisation.
With the open-top 911s as well, Porsche has managed to reverse the weight spiral and make the new Cabrio models significantly lighter than their predecessors, by up to 60 kilograms depending on equipment. As a result, for the same engine output, the new 911 Carrera generation combines enhanced performance with significantly lower fuel consumption -- in short "Porsche Intelligent Performance".

The new Boxster generation -- the mid-engine roadster from Porsche
Stuttgart. Never before in the history of the Porsche Boxster was a change of generation so comprehensive. The open-top two-seater car is being marketed with a completely new lightweight body and a completely revamped chassis. Considerably lower weight, longer wheelbase, a wider track and larger wheels significantly enhance yet further the mid-engine sports car's driving dynamics, already far and away the best in its class, supported by the new electro-mechanical power steering. The new Boxsters boast superior performance and are also up to 15 per cent more fuelefficient.
Depending on model, they get by with significantly less than eight litres of fuel per 100 kilometres.
The new Boxster thus delivers what the fundamentally changed styling with shorter overhangs, significantly forward-shifted windscreen, flatter silhouette and expressive edges promises. The passengers are enclosed by the completely redesigned, fully
electric hood, which now dispenses with a convertible top compartment lid. The interior concept offers the occupants more space and reflects the new Porsche outline with the raked centre console, which, originating with the Carrera GT, ensures further improved ergonomics in all models.
The new sports car generation makes its debut in the classic Porsche pairing of Boxster
and Boxster S. Both models are powered by flat-six engines with direct petrol injection, the efficiency of which is further enhanced by electrical system recuperation, thermal management and start/stop function. The base model's new power unit delivers 265 hp (195 kW) from a 2.7 litre displacement -- ten hp more than its larger
displacement predecessor. Technically, it is now based on the 3.4-litre engine of the Boxster S. This now delivers 315 hp (232 kW), which is five hp more than before. Both models feature a manual six-speed gearbox as standard with the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available as an option. Both sports cars achieve their best fuel consumption and acceleration performance with the PDK. The Porsche Boxster's fuel consumption with PDK is 7.7 l/100 km and 8.0 l/100 km for the Boxster S. With gear changes without interruption to the power flow, the Boxster sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, the Boxster S in 5.0 seconds.
To enhance driving dynamics yet further, Porsche offers the Sport Chrono Package as an optional extra for the Boxster, featuring dynamic transmission mounts for the first time. Also new in the Boxster is Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear axle differential lock.
The market launch of the new Boxster generation will be on 14.04.2012. The basic list price in Germany will be 48,291 euro for the Boxster and 59,120 euro for the Boxster S, including 19 per cent value added tax in both cases.

2013 Continental GT transported by helicopter [HD] (Option Auto News)
BENTLEY GOES SKY HIGH! NEW CONTINENTAL V8 MAKES DRAMATIC DEBUT OVER MUNICH
Bentley Motors celebrated the arrival of its new 4.0 litre V8 Continental GT coupe in Germany with a sensational flying debut above downtown Munich.
Anyone struggling through the rush hour would have seen the bright red Bentley taking a dramatic short-cut, suspended beneath a helicopter, to beat the traffic jams and arrive at a specially-designed podium at the summit of a high rise complex close to Munich's city centre. The fashionable SkyLounge -- positioned in a glazed bridge between two skyscrapers -- was the venue for an exclusive Bentley Continental V8 launch party for 300 VIP guests.
Klaus Becker, General Manager of Bentley Munich, who organised the show-stopping helicopter lift commented:
"A dramatic car got the debut we felt it deserved and we took a little bit of our inspiration from Bentley's iconic 'Winged B' emblem. On a practical level the helicopter was the fastest way to get to the rooftop podium."
Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupé 2012 [HD] (Option Auto News)
Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupé :
The 911 Carrera with the new 350 hp (~ 257 kW) 3.4-litre boxer engine and optional PDK consumes a mere 8.2 litres per 100 kilometres (~ 34 mpg imp.) based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) -- 1.6 l/100 km (~ 6 mpg imp.) less than its predecessor. Also, at 194 g/km CO2, it is the first Porsche sports car to make it below the 200 g/km mark. With the 911 Carrera S as well, with its 3.8-litre boxer engine and what is now 400 hp (~ 294 kW), fuel consumption when paired with the optional PDK is reduced by 14 per cent or 1.5 l/100 km (~ 5 mpg imp.) to 8.7 l/100 km (~ 32 mpg imp.) despite 15 hp (~ 11 kW) more power. That equates to CO2 emissions of 205 g/km.
At the same time there are performance improvements in both models. The 911 Carrera S with PDK manages to accelerate from nought to 100 km/h (~ 62 mph) in 4.3 seconds. Pressing the Sport Plus button on the optional Sport Chrono package cuts that to 4.1 seconds. The 911 Carrera with PDK needs only 4.6 seconds (Sport Plus 4.4 seconds) to sprint from a standing start to 100 km/h (~ 62 mph).

The 991 is the first 911 to use predominantly aluminum construction. This means that even though the car is larger than the outgoing model, it is still up to 50 kilograms (110 lb) lighter. The reduced weight and increased power means that both the Carrera and Carrera S are appreciably faster than the outgoing models. The 0--60 mph time for the manual transmission cars are 4.6 seconds for the Carrera and 4.3 seconds for the Carrera S. When equipped with PDK the 991 models can accelerate from 0--60 mph in 4.4 seconds and 4.1 seconds for the Carrera and Carrera S respectively. With the optional sports chrono package, available in cars with the PDK transmission, the 991 Carrera can accelerate from 0--60 mph in as little as 4.2 seconds [31] and the Carrera S can do the same in 3.9 seconds.
The biggest and main change in the interior is the center console, inspired by the Carrera GT and adopted by the Panamera.
The 911 has many strengths, the new 911 Carrera 4 has a few more with regards to traction, driving dynamics and safety. Make these strengths your own - behind the wheel - whatever the weather. More information on http://www.porsche.com/carrera-4
The Porsche 911 (pronounced as Nine Eleven or German: Neunelfer) is a two-door Grand Tourer made by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany. It has a distinctive design, rear-engined and with independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. Since its introduction in 1963,[1] it has undergone continuous development, though the basic concept has remained little changed.[2] The engine was air-cooled until the introduction of the Type 996 in 1998.
Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of automotive competition. It is among the most successful competition cars ever. In the mid 1970s, naturally aspirated 911 Carrera RSRs won major world championship sports car races such as Targa Florio, Daytona, Sebring and Nürburgring, even against prototypes. The 911-derived 935 turbo also won the coveted 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979.
In the 1999 international poll for the award of Car of the Century, the 911 came fifth.[3] It is one of two in the top five that had remained continuously in production (the original Beetle remained in production until 2003),[4] and was until 1998 the most successful surviving application of the air- (now water-) cooled opposed rear-engine layout pioneered by its original ancestor, the Volkswagen Beetle. It is one of the oldest sports coupe nameplates still in production.
In 2004, Sports Car International named the 911 number three on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1960s, the Carrera RS number seven on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970s, and the 911 Carrera number seven on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1980s. In addition, the 911 was voted Number 2 on Automobile Magazine's list of the "100 Coolest Cars". The 997 was nominated for the World Car of the Year award for 2005.

2013 Subaru BRZ vs Porsche 911 Carrera S Mile High Mashup Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) Most people certainly won't cross shop a 2013 Subaru BRZ and the all new Porsche 911 Carrera S. Yet in many ways the two cars are very similar. They both have a similar type of flat engine, they both seat 2 comfortaby but you can get 4 people into the cars in a pinch, and they are both are classic rear wheel drive sports cars. Of course the Porsche cost 4X the money and has exactly 2X the horsepower of the BRZ and yet it is currently and possibly the most desired car by twenty something year olds. The Porsche is verging on super car status and yet it is possibly the most desired car by forty something year olds. Check it out as we mashup these two cars in this Mile High review to see what makes them so similar to each other.
