4 BT Cummins Powered 1998 Ford Explorer
This 1998 Ford Explorer belongs to a fellow co-worker, he liked my 4BT Powered 71 Dodge, and thought he would like to do a similar conversion to his. We took some measurements, and began sourcing parts. We started this project around Christmas 2009, it was completed early January 2010.
Barry has driven his 4BT powered explorer now for 3 years, and has logged over 100K miles since the conversion, averaging 30+ miles per gallon on fuel.
We custom fabricated our motor mounts, the A/C bracket, all transmission lines, as well as the power steering lines. The Adapter plate, flywheel, starter, and transmission were pulled from a wrecked Ram 250 pick up, we also sourced the vacuum pump, and power steering pump.
We custom fabricated a turbo spacer to lower the turbo charger to assist in hooking up the exaust. We also custom fabricated the turbo charger lines to the intake, and the oil drain back line.
All and all a successful home conversion, why can't we get something like this from an auto manufacturer. Hope you enjoy the video!!!!!!

Supercharged Explorer Dyno
Hi, This is a quick Vid of my explorer on the Dyno, Unfortunately it kept shifting early at 4500 rpm even with the overdrive off, Will post another vid as soon as I get the sct software to hold the gear & tune it to shift at 5500. So far at 4400 rpm its making 280 rwhp & 341 RWTQ. Here's a chart comparing old set up with 4-4.5 psi (Blue Line) to new setup 7-8 psi (Red line) . Notice at 3400 rpm with the new pulley its making 50 RWHP more all the way till it finished at 4400
