Nouvelle Renault Mégane a été conçue pour offrir une sécurité au plus haut niveau de sa catégorie. Elle hérite de doubles capteurs de choc latéral et d'airbags thorax/bassin bi-chambre, dispositif introduit sur Laguna III permettant de réduire les conséquences des chocs latéraux.

Um video propaganda da renault, que ganhou 5 estrelas no Euro NCAP Crashtest, um crashtest famoso. Muito maneiro ver aqueles carros feiosos sendo desfigurados, eu realmente acho que a renault não acerta nos carros que ela faz. Tem carro batendo de frente, arrastando um na lateral do outro, todos sendo destruídos. Tem até uma hora que dois carros em rota de colisão saltam sobre outros dois e colidem no ar. As câmeras de alta resolução e velocidade com a música clássica ao fundo dão a sensação de suavidade e tranquilidade, um verdadeiro balé automobilístico. Gostei.

Front impact
The passenger compartment remained stable in the impact, the windscreen pillar being displaced rearwards by only 10mm after the test. The car scored maximum points for its protection of the passenger. Dummy readings indicated that the car provided good protection of the knees and femurs of both driver and passenger. Renault showed that similar protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions.
Side impact
The Megane scored maximum points in the side impact and pole tests.
Child-protection
The passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. However, information provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag is not sufficiently clear. A permanently attached label clearly warns of the dangers of using a rearward facing child restraint without first disabling the airbag. Since Euro NCAP's tests, the design of the ISOFIX anchorage in the rear outboard seats has been improved and is fitted to all customers' cars.
Pedestrian protection
The front edge of the bonnet scored no points for the protection provided to pedestrians' legs. The head of a struck adult or child would be offered predominantly poor protection by the bonnet.
