ZAP Alias Electric Car Debuts at North American International Auto Show Electric Avenue
DETROIT (January 8, 2010) Electric transportation pioneer ZAP (OTCBB:ZAAP) of Santa Rosa is previewing its Alias 100 percent electric sports car at the North American International Auto Show, January 11-24 in Detroit, Michigan. The display is part of the Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE, a competition with a $10 million purse for production-capable vehicles that exceed 100 miles per gallon or energy equivalent.
The ZAP Alias will be located in the auto show debut of Electric Avenue, a section on the main floor that will showcase electric vehicles and technology. The exhibit area will feature nearly 20 vehicles as well as symposiums and special events. For more information, visit http://www.naias.com.
The Alias was designed by ZAP and European engineers. Powered by an array of large-format lithium batteries, the base model Alias can top 85 miles per hour and travel over 100 miles on a charge. The drive system uses a compact, high-efficiency, air-cooled, AC-induction motor and carries an expected list price of around $35,000.
ZAP Alias and SUV Answer Korea Electric Vehicle Challenge
The Korea Electric Vehicle Challenge took place outside Seoul with ZAP and Samyang Optics entering two vehicles under development, the Alias electric car and the electric A380 SUV.
This was ZAP's first public demonstration of the Alias and SUV. ZAP's two 100 percent electric vehicles drove in a 200km/124.3mi route at average speeds of 85kph or 52.8mph as part of an EV Challenge representing the Korean electric vehicle industry.
The three-day event includes an Eco Fair where the ZAP vehicles are scheduled to appear in parades and in an exhibition of fuel efficient vehicles and other consumer products.
ZAP was hosted by Samyang Optics in their ongoing partnership to distribute electric vehicles in Korea. The Korean government has announced support and investment in electric vehicles over the next few years. Several government and business leaders spoke at the opening ceremony for the event, including Korean ministers, congressmen, representatives from the Korean Elecctric Vehicle Association, as well as Samyang CEO Christopher Kang and ZAP CEO Steve Schneider.
The electric SUV is based on a partnership between ZAP and auto manufacturer Zhejiang Jonway Automobile Co. Ltd. using the A380 5-door SUV targeting the China fleet market. The ZAP Alias electric car is entered in the Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize taking place this year. For more information visit http://zapalias.wordpress.com.
Thank you to ZAP CEO Steve Schneider for providing the video, ZAP EV Tech and Driver Aubre Decker, and Brad Moore of ZAP Marketing for producing the video.

New Electric Cars Are Better
Just showing off some of the cool new electric cars and putting to rest some of the myths out there. When people think of electric cars, typically they think of older ugly slower models, lead-acid batterys, and BS propaganda they've read slamming the "electric cars"(as though they all carried the exact same attributes)
The battery technology has changed(and will change even more when nanowire battery becomes common), the speeds have changed, the climate versatility has changed, the prices are changing, the car companies are changing... everything is changing for the better. I expect to see a lot more support for EV's during and after 2010.

The ZAP Alias Electric Car Project is Born
In 2006 ZAP hired Lotus Engineering in the UK to perform a feasibility study on advanced electric car designs. Out of the gates the ZAP-X electric SUV was the focal point of the project and the concept was shown by ZAP and Lotus Engineering at NADA 2007 in Las Vegas. ZAP put the brakes on the high cost of the ZAP-X, but today they are still planning to build the other vehicle that resulted from the feasibility study, what is now called the ZAP Alias. This is a CAD design by Lotus Engineering that was delivered to ZAP as part of the feasibility study.
50 MPH 8000W AWD Electric Offroad Mountain Bike First Drive
Dual motor e-bike reaching very fast speed of 47-48 mph in minimal space. Bicycle as seen is running at 5600W with 2WD. This bike does come with the option of running at 8000W or 5600W. We chose 5600W because we felt 8000W is not needed and just spins the tires needlessly and also puts added stress on components. The pull is quite amazing on this thing. This particular video is the first impressions of our first ride. The space we ran it is just slightly downhill but also around a bend so there is less than 350 feet to really get on the throttle. Later testing on flat ground yielded 50 MPH on GPS and Radar! Total system weight ready to ride is only 65 lbs! (29.5 kg!)

$10,000 Car - AirPod - That Runs On Air
An amazing affordable auto that runs on air!
AIRPod is the culmination of MDI studies on pollution and urban mobility.
This concept will be the first to leave the production line in spring 2009. MDI will respond to an invitation to tender of the city of Paris, "Autolib'", and is already the subject of applications for various municipalities.
With small size, a tiny price, zero pollution, fun and futuristic design, AIRPod mark a turning point in the range of urban vehicles while renewing the idea of the automobile and transportation. You can drive with a joystick, it only costs one euro per 200 km and leaves no one indifferent in crept in traffic.
It is a real breath of fresh air in our cities and the prelude to travel without pollution. Its small size make it easy to park, keeping still a large internal volume. AIRPod help us to forget the price of petrol.
AIRPod is part of the MDI production licence of "less than 500kg vehicles", and is manufactured in the same factories as OneFlowAir, following the original production concept proposed by MDI.
AIRPod
The standard version is designed for the transport of persons. It has four seats (3 adults and one child) and has space for luggage. It is dedicated to multiple uses as in the private and public sectors. Airports, train stations and municipalities also need a cheap, non-polluting car with high mobility.
This wehicle is changing our urban life in the city center in freeing ourselves of the prohibitive cost of petrol and offering us mobility never gained until today.
AIRPod Cargo
This carriage version with a single place has a load volume greater than one meter cube that makes deliveries easy in town. Designed for runners, messaging, and the artisans and communities, Cargo AIRPod brings Zero Pollution in institutions. The Post, factory handling and delivery are markets of choice for AIRPod Cargo.
AIRPod Baby
Two front seats and a chest of more than 500 liters, all for less than 1,80m long, it's the most extreme, a real challenge for car design. This model was created keeping in mind the most congested cities by traffic. It is a versatile which can also be used for deliveries, municipal services, roads and small logistics.

Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey Learns About the ZAP Alias Electric Car and the X Prize
Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey (D-California) toured ZAP on February 16, 2010 to show support for a project creating jobs from an engineering contract with the United States Postal Service. ZAP has been awarded a contract to create a 100% electric version of a mail truck. Woolsey took a seat in the ZAP Alias while at ZAP and learned about the Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize.
Dodge Viper 500 hp Vs Tzero Electric Car - See Who Wins
Forerunner to the Tesla Roadster.
Viper = 510 hp, 3380 lb,
tzero = 225 hp, 1970 lb,
Viper = 0-60: 3.9sec
tzero = 0-60: 3.6sec
Power to Weight ratio:
Viper = 326hp/ton
tzero = 250hp/ton
Only about 15% of the energy from the fuel you put in your tank gets used to move your car down the road or run useful accessories, such as air conditioning. The rest of the energy is lost to engine and driveline inefficiencies and idling. Therefore, the potential to improve fuel efficiency with advanced technologies is enormous. With an Electric Car it costs just $2.00 per 100kms with MUCH more performance than with petrol at $20.00 per 100kms.
