Figured it out! Previous owner when installing the radio hooked up the factory amp-turn-on wire on the car side of the harness to accessory. This would normally keep the amps on whenever the car is on, which is fine when the radio doesn't have a remote-turn on wire. However, along with hooking up the car-side amp-turn on to accessory, the radio's ANTENNA wire was also hooked up to accessory. Basically this created a backfeed into the system maintaining the radio on. Depressing/activating the brake must have put enough of an electrical load on the car for it to turn off it's entire electrical system now that it realizes the engine is off and they key is out of the cylinder......if that makes sense. Anyway, it was a fun project!
