Sonata V6 Borla Muffler
Turn your speakers wayyyy up!
2002 Sonata V6 2.7 (2002-2006 Tiburon GT motor)
Took out the stock airbox and restrictive tubing and replaced it with a cheap Spectre cone filter. Got rid of the heavy and very quiet stock muffler and put on a Borla XS-Pro 2.5 muffler. Half the size of stock, half the weight, very throaty and deep under acceleration but quiet as stock at idle and while cruising. Kept stock piping (2.5"), resonator and cat to keep it from sounding to ricey. No drone like my old magnaflow and doesn't wake up the neighbors like flowmaster. Nice job Borla!
2013 Hyundai Sonata In Detail
Many of you are not aware that Hyundai first came to the US market in 1986 with a model named the Exel. It was not. The only car worse was the Yugo. Both the Yugo and the Hyundai were aimed at the bottom of the market, first time buyers, people with little or no credit, buyers that for the first time wanted to buy a new car instead of a 7 year old used car. Some think that they would have been better off with the used car. With a price of $4,995 and not looking cheap while on the showroom floor, the cars were flying out the door, The closest Made In the USA car was the Chevrolet Chevette at $5,645. The unfortunate thing was that the brand became synonymous as a poor persons car. Lets face it, no matter how inexpensive the labor was then in Korea, to build a product and send it 1/2 way around the globe and sell it for $600.00 less than the least expensive North American car, something has to give.
That is enough on the history. In 2009 Hyundai opened up the wallet and hired key European BMW people to turn the image of reliable but boring, to the cars that are now at the top of style and reliability.
What should make the competition even more nervous is the fact that with Hyundai's growth, they are attracting top designers such as Chris Chapman. Chris has been in the industry for 22 years and after leaving BMW, now stands to lead Hyundai's design center in Irvine, California to bold new heights.
The Sonata was the first product of the reformatted Hyundai line up. The new Sonata SE $23,345 MSRP does not have to make any apologies. This is now a world class car, the direction that Hyundai is taking has served notice that even Mercedes better pay attention.
We had the Sonata for a 5 day weekend that found us driving to Florida to visit friends and family. The 198 HP engine felt a little soft on take off but it came alive the higher it revved. The 6-speed automatic transmission gives you the option of manual shifting when you are enjoying your favorite twisty road, The SE Sonata comes with everything you need.
Here is the equipment list for the SE
198-hp 2.4L GDI 4-cylinder engine
6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC®
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist (BA)
Daytime running lights
Power door locks, windows and outside mirrors
Remote keyless entry and alarm
Six airbags - includes driver and front passenger, front seat side-mounted and front and rear curtain airbags
Tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruise control functions
Blue Link® telematics system
Bluetooth® hands-free phone system
Pod® / USB and MP3 auxiliary input jacks
Advanced trip computer with custom settings
On the highway the tall 6th gear gave relaxed cruising by providing relaxed engine RPM's. The slippery shape contributed to low wind noise and fantastic gas mileage. One leg of I 75 for 200 miles we averaged 40 mpg! The 1500 mile trip including cruising South Beach and dealing with Atlanta traffic returned and average of 33 mpg

What I have to say about the 2013 Sonata: Great Midsize Sedan for the low budget minded buyer and this car is packed with value. Nice luxury features such as a Panoramic sunroof is standard on the Limited trim as well as heated front and rear seats, some luxury features you will find on way more expensive cars. Driving dynamics re also pretty decent, except on the SE trim. What about that dramatic styling? This styling is one of the most stylish midsize sedans you can buy, right along it's cousin the Kia Optima. Rear Headroom is just a bit tight, but that is the only major gripe I have bout this car. Can the Sonata and Optima hold up in the ever crowded midsize sedan market? With cars like the Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Chevrolet Malibu having better fuel economy and technology in the interior, the major things going for the Sonata is Value, Luxury Features, and Styling. All in all the Sonata is one of the best midsize sedans you can buy, no wonder why Hyundai has taken alot of the market share with extreme value packed cars and lets not forget about that warranty. Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Hyundai Sonata - etrailer.com
http://www.etrailer.com/tv-hitch-2006-hyundai-sonota.aspx
Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Today we are going to install part number 11325 from Curt. And we are going to install this on a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The first step involved is to go ahead and lower the Exhaust. We also just added a strap to keep the Exhaust from coming down too far, and if we have to we can actually lower this a little easier with the strap. Also, we sprayed down the rubber hangers with some WD-40 to help loosen them up a little bit. On the last one here we are just going to take out this bolt here. What you want to do is spray this down pretty good with WD-40 and let it soak a little bit, because these bolts that sit out underneath the vehicle are prone to freezing up.
Our next step will be to go ahead and install the hitch up above the Exhaust heat shield here and up alongside the frame. Actually I think it is going to be a little bit easier just to take down the heat shield and put it back up when we are done. So that is what we are going to do. This is optional but I figure it will be worth the effort for a little bit extra access to tighten bolts down. There you go. And again, we will put these up when we are done.
Now with the Exhaust shield down you can see the holes more easily exposed. There is one here and one right here. It would be a good idea to take a moment and spray them down with some lubricant just to clean them out and make sure the threads go in easy. We already sprayed them down so we will just try and give it a run-in by fingers. All right, you want to do the same thing for both sides. At this point we want to put the hitch up. You might need an extra hand. Just work it around the Exhaust system and make sure the tow loop on the vehicle is behind the hitch bar. This is where you need an extra set of hands to hold it up on one side. Again, you just want to get them started. You do not have to tighten them up, just enough to hold the hitch in place.
All right, once you get one side in position, what you want to do is take a moment and put your hardware for the tow loop on the tow loop and through and then raise the hitch into position with the bolt coming through. All right, then we can install the rest of the hardware for our tow loop. Now if you make sure everything is where you want it, we will go ahead and snug down the bolts. At this point, we can go ahead and give the bolts a final torque. We can go ahead and put our heat shields back into place. All right, next we can go ahead and slip our Exhaust back in. All right, and there you have our install of part number 11325 from Curt on a 2006 Hyundai Sonata.
2013 Nissan Altima vs Camry vs Sonata vs Passat Mashup Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 Nissan Altima is the second best selling car in the highly competitive mid-sized sedan segment in America. It competes directly with the best selling car in America....the Toyota Camry. It also competes with the new and very popular kid on the block...the Hyundai Sonata. And of course it also competes with a car that's built just down the road from it in Tennessee...the new Volkswagen Passat. So which of these cars is the best buy and did Nissan do enough to the new 2013 Nissan Altima to stay in second place or even more up to first place ahead of the Toyota Camry. Check out another fun and informative TFLcar mashup video to find out as we compare four of America's best selling cars.
