My 1987 Buick 455 Stage-1 Regal project-car at SHOP ... as D&S Buick 455 engine awaits! 2010-07-21
My Regal on the flatbed in front of the SHOP. The TA Performance flex-plate arrives Monday ... and on Tuesday, the D&S Performance 10:3-compression Buick 455, Tyrone Taylor built TH400 transmission, and Buick Grand National posi-rear installation BEGINS! The original Buick turbo aluminum wheels will be retained, and a pair of Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials (275/60R15) will replace the present tires in the rear. The TA Performance long-style competition headers will be installed in the empty engine bay FIRST ... then the motor & tranny combo lowered/marked and bolted to the chassis using TA Performance's custom frame/pad kit and a Energy Suspension TH400 transmission mount. The chrom-moly (off a 10-second GnBuick GN) driveshaft is from Mr. Brian Weaver of gbodyparts.com. Updates soon.
My 1987 D&S Performance Stage-1 Buick 455 Regal RUNS!!! 2010-12-22
This is a COOL Christmas gifts for me; My D&S BUICK 455 STAGE-1 REGAL IS 100% DRIVEABLE! I need to reconnect the factory 87' Regal's coolant reserve tank (the hose that goes from radiator neck to coolant reserve tank is where the coolant spill originated from)... and add more coolant ... I also forgot to turn twin Derale electric 4000-cfm fans (my 1st electric fans ... gotta get used to them); the engine only reached 190-degrees within 10-minutes. SO FAR SO GOOD. Since my fuel issue was the fuel pump, I was able to retain the 1/2" braided stainless steel fuel line I originally installed when the D&S 455 went in the Regal, from tank-to-pump. I also forgot how to operate the Tach (it's been YEARS since my last Buick 455 Regal). This video was taken during my lunch hour from work today. The Buick goes home after work.
MR. DAN SMITH OF D&S PERFORMANCE & TIM OF TA PERFORMANCE ARE KINGS-OF-KINGS!!! Much-Respect!

buick GS 455 stage 1 first startup on engine stand
This is the first startup of my 455 stage 1 after rebuild! It crashed few months ago :((.
Exhausts on this teststand are the stock cast headers. carb is a beautyfull barry grant 850 demon on an edelbrock 455 performance intake. cam is a SP 1165R, 112LC. Later, we replaced it with a stock GS cam for smoother running. TA 1.65 red roller rockers. heads flowed and ported. SP/FM hypereutectic pistons. Kenne Bell valve covers. they look kinda cool, don't they?
This should push around 390HP with the stock cam and around 430HP with the SP cam! runs like a baby :). listen!
