Ariens Snow Blower Cold Start
This is a cold start of my 2 stage 10 hp 28 inch Ariens snowblower. It hasn't been started since I made the last video of it.

-14F here in Minnesota. For you international viewers that's about -25C. It's a perfect start except for Low Range, being broken for a while now.
China MTD Snowblower OHV 179cc 5.5hp issue. Help wanted.
Got motor from a friends father, he said it was replaced under warrently for the strange reason you can see from the video. I honestly think it has to do with the carbs float but help and information about this motor is appriciated. Doesnt look like a honda clone.

We were on a ski trip in northern Finland. The whole week was freezing, -25C to -35C all the time. Obviously, it was too cold to ski. The car layed completely unused on a parking lot for five days. When leaving, I had to do this cold start, and thought it would be worth filming. Battery was original, about five years old, and it survived really well. No Engine heater, battery heater/charger or any other device was used. Pure cold start.
Idle revs are higher at low temperatures, thanks to automatic choke. Nobody touches the accelerator at any time. I'm actually releasing the clutch @ 0:43 to keep revs low, I thought cold and thick transmission oil would cause some troubles to engine and lower the revs. If I remember correctly, idle revs were somewhere around 2500 - 3000 rpm during the start.
The coldest start before this was -22C. It's much more gentle for the engine than this. However, after this I got new battery and a block heater, just in case. I know continuous starts like this will kill the engine very quick, but doing it once hardly did any damage. Car had 150 000km (almost 100 000 miles) on it when I sold it, and it still worked fine.

Cold Start/snowblowing
ColdStart/Snowblowing with 2008 Craftsman 26" Snowthrower. Well, it turns out its NOT a Tecumseh Power engine. It took ALOT of searching, but in the end it turned out to be a MTD PowerMore (Made in China) 208cc OHV engine. It works decently, its only 6HP though. Dont listen to the Sears people. It if is unbranded, it is probably a MIC engine. Always starts first pull cold, usually takes a couple pulls warm though, and at max throttle the governer bounces up and down.
