OUTSIDERS JAPAN MOVIE BY DRIFTWORKS. HD Drifting Documentary DVD
After 10 years of being a part of the drift scene, Phil Morrison and James
Robinson from Driftworks finally took a tour of Japan, accompanied by film
maker Al Clark, and guided by Mitto Steele.
The goal was to see where drifting originated. To find out why it has
advanced so much, and why the drivers will often risk everything to do it.

26 PSI RX-7 GT35R Single Turbo
Ever wonder what happens if you hit fuel cut at 26 PSI on a turbo RX-7? Watch me do it on accident while
For those wondering, I had the ECU set to 20 PSI expectation and wastegate
to 26 PSI. ECU will go 3.5 PSI over its limits before it cuts the fuel.
Small logical error can make a huge difference.
I got lucky. I attribute a large part of that to the pre turbo water injection keeping my knock low and
combustion temps low while tuning.

400 Horsepower RX-7 in Tokyo
Met up with a guy who has a 400 hp RX-7 when it's running at low Boost. To ensure the longevity of the engine
he's running his T04 turbo at about
12psin (very low Boost). It has 2
apex seals on a bridge port motor. He gave a demo on the freeway and
showed what it can do.
Why I picked the GT35R for my RX-7 over the stock twin turb
I cover the basics of turbochargers in
simple terms to explain why I chose the GT35R over T04Z or T78 or T88 etc.
It's all about air flow. Sure there are technologies that make the turbo more efficient in more applications but
the turbo is most efficient in an area
known as the compressor map.
Exhaust back pressure plays a huge
part when dealing with quick spool small turbos.
Large turbos deal with spool up and lag
I chose the GT35r for near stock spool up with more efficient 400 hp

1994 Mazda RX7 Twin-Turbo--D&M Motorsports Video Walk Around Presentation with Chris Moran 2012
1994 Mazda RX-7 Video Review with Chris Moran. Presented by D&M
This car made me a car guy. When it works it is pretty near perfect and if
you know what you are doing, it can run really well. Make sure you learn
how to drive and this car will reward you like anything. Akin in its day to
the exige now, it is awe inspiring and fun go-cart. Its styling is still
amazing and I still have notes all the time on my car asking to sell it -
even with faded paint. This car is about the spirit of driving for sure.
Cornering. Sweat on the back of my neck on the perfect apex with full on
power-on over-steer. telegraphic handling If you know what you are doing
350+ reliable HP is easily within reach...
The build quality was not great. You have to take care to upgrade/replace
key components. The finish was just not that of a super-car. If it were,
the car would be near-perfect.
To completely sum up the TT Rx7: PURE sports car experience, a lot of TLC.
It's rare to find a car this enjoyable, and if you take care of it it will
take care of you. I bought mine a little over a year ago with a reman
engine, and even though I've spent a ton on reliability parts and other
repairs, nothing makes me smile more than hitting the gas in this car. If
you got a little money, you're a real car guy and you don't mind learning a
little about the car you drive, don't pass up the Rx7.
From the moment I saw the RX-7 I wanted it. It is truly one of the most
beautiful designs to ever come out of Japan. I have owned this and the
Nissan Twin turbo 300. While the 300 is
overall a better "car", the RX-7 is really more of a true sports car. Good:
Styling, smooth engine, looks very expensive, interior well laid- out. Not
so good: If you are considering one, and are not planning on putting on an
aftermarket turbo, etc., BUY A WARRANTY.
I went through three orig equip turbos
but luckily had a warranty. You can buy a warranty on this ride for under
$2K, and you WILL be glad you did. Other bad: drinks premium fuel like a
freshman fraternity pledge at a beer keg. You WILL replace radio.
Styling, performance, uniqueness, ability to increase performance to
awesome levels if you want to spend the money.
Gas mileage, turbo reliability. While I
am a pretty slim guy, if you are a little big around the middle or a re a
big person in general you will find this car to be uncomfortable. Also, if
you have the choice, get the base model with the cloth upholstery - it
holds up a lot better than leather.
This car was the bomb. Great handleing, great performance, beautiful to
look at. I found this beauty at a little local dealer and $9000 later drove
off with the most powerful car I have ever owned. 215hp and suspension that
allowed me to take it around corners over 60 like they weren't even there.
Traded it for 99 Saab 93 SE convertable for my wife nine months later. Made
$3000. Still kicking myself for that one....
The 3rd generation Mazda's RX7 rightfully won Motor Trend's Car of the year
award when it was first released 10 years ago. Its combination of
acceleration, handling and styling made it the best sports car to ever come
from Japan and better than many cars that cost twice or even three times as
much, including Porsche. This car is a true sports car not just a sporty
car and it sacrifices many comforts for performance.
Rotary engine is light, compact and revs to the limit in a very smooth and
predictable manner. Handling is phenomenal. Braking is excellent. Good leg
Devoid of any cargo space. Harsh ride. Consumes premium fuel at an alarming
I bought this car because of its reputation. Since buying it, I've done
numerous things to it to improve reliability and performance, and every
minute has been a blast. This car still gets lots of looks, and can
outperform many faaaaar more expensive cars.
RWD, huge community and availability of modifications/parts.
Needs a Boost gauge from the
factory. Better quality factory parts...Intercooler, radiator, etc. Many parts
are not sufficient for hard driving. Standard dual oil coolers. More exotic
