Rebuilding a td05h 16g turbo. This
process can be applied to many journal bearing turbochargers. :) It definitely comes in handy to
know how to do this when you are in this type of hobby.
4/25/12: Small explanation on the balancing of the rotating assembly since
I get so many comments regarding it. This particular turbocharger, td05h, has it's rotating assembly
components balanced separately. This means each individual part (compressor
wheel, turbine wheel/shaft) gets balanced separately. This allows for easy
interchangeability of parts in case they need replacing. This is why I am
able to install a td05 20g wheel on this turbo without having to balance the entire
rotating assembly. THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR ALL turboS OUT THERE. You need to research whether
your specific turbo (if it's not td05h)
was balanced as an assembly or "component balanced" like I explained above.

The Story Of Dave The Golf MK1 VR6.
This is the story of Dave a VW Golf Mk1 that has been off the road for 12
years, locked up in a shed and was in need of a bit of love so I thought I
would give him a bigger heart in the form of a Golf Mk3 VR6.
I know some people will think Why do this!!! Engine is too heavy and the
car will not handle, maybe this is so but for all you vw lovers one thing
is for sure the growl of the VR is truly Awesome!!! I have fitted The MK3
subframe to the Mk1 to give it some strength and have tried to use as much
of the Mk3 as I can.

Golf 3 VR6 Turbo HD 720p
VR6 engine origins date back to the eighties. At the time, the first
attempt to create a six-cylinder engine. However, it was impossible to put
under the hood of cars with front wheel drive transverse mounted engine or
inline or forking. Problem was solved by using a combination of advantages
of both structures. In this way, a motor with a cylinder placed at an angle
of 15 degrees in one block.
The use of this structure enabled the reduction in size of the engine, so
that it can be positioned laterally. The first Volkswagenami engine Passat
VR6 and Corrado were available on the U.S. market since 1991. Displacing
2.8 liters displacement had the power of 174 hp and torque of 240 Nm.
Version 2.9 l had the power to 190 hp and torque of 245 Nm. In 1992, VW has
equipped the engine has entrant Golf III. It was the first car in its class
with such a large capacity engine.
The next generation of VR6 engines were 24-valve engines manufactured since
1999. Changed their name to the V6 although structural solutions have not
changed. Models were applied in Bora 4-motion and the Golf IV 4-motion.
They had the power of 204 hp. In 2003 he established a more comprehensive
version of the VR6 - 3.2 liter, called R32 up to 250 hp.
Currently, the latest design of VR Volkswagen R36 is the engine capacity of
3.6 liters and output of more than 300 hp. Significantly changed the
structure, the angle between the cylinders is 10.6 degrees. It was
introduced for sale in 2005.
Apart from purely personal car, VR6 engines mounted in the minivan also

Yes, the infamous Golf may be able to put out 1,200 horsepower. Possibly. The
story that comes from Hans Dahlback, the owner of Dahlback Racing and the
mastermind behind these insane cars, is that the car, when running on a Dyno that bolts to the
hubs, produced well over 850 hp to the wheels at around 8,000 rpm before
the Dyno started
reading errors--and the car revs to upward of 11,000 rpm. Using a 15
percent drivetrain-loss calculation, at 8,000 rpm the car was over 1,000
flywheel horsepower. I'm making an
educated guess that the car produced another few ponies in the 3,000 rpm
Considering Dahlback claims the motor pulls strong until just under 11,000
rpm--with the power increasing dramatically in the last couple thousand
rpm--it's reasonable to assume, considering the extent the motor's power
curve was climbing at the point the Dyno stopped reading, that the
car would have likely gained another 100 or 200 horses in the remaining
available revs. You also have to keep in mind that Dahlback massively
underpromises any horsepower claim. I was told
by various people at Dahlback's shop that the Golf was producing
significantly more than 850 wheel horsepower on the Dyno, but Dahlback would only
confirm 850-plus hp, and thus that is what I worked my calculations from.
And yes, the car shoots flames out the side exit Exhaust during deceleration.
It was snowing most of the time I was in Sweden, so I didn't get to go for
a ride in the monster Golf, but I did watch quite a bit of track footage of
the car running in Stockholm--from what I saw, the car most definitely
produces 1,200 hp. What I did get to do, however, was rip the nose piece
off the Golf, put the car on a lift, and investigate why this VW is so
