Nice little car..part of American Motor's offering. There was also a Hudson version, with just a different name plastered on the car. This was truly an import, from England, with an Austin engine, sold at Nash and Hudson dealers here. It was a nice counterpoint to Rambler American compacts and Rambler Rebel and Ambassador full sized cars.
1961 Nash Metropolitan Hardtop YelWht
This is the second video recording of this car that I have made..this one shows the engine compartment. 1961 was the end of the line for the Metropolitan...it had a nice run! Made in England and imported and sold by AMC Nash and Hudson dealers. AMC was certainly the small car specialist at this point...and their American was bigger and sat four easily. This one had the style, though!
Late 50's Nash Metropolitan convertible
These cars represent an early cooperative effort between Austin of the U.K. and the conglomerate Nash-Hudson-Kelvinator. The cars were built abroad, then imported to the U.S. At first they were sold at Nash dealers, then when Hudson joined, the same car was sold at Hudson dealers, albeit with an "H" displayed instead of an "N". I think it was pretty successful..and had nice styling flair. A hardtop model was also offered.
1974 AMC Matador Oleg Cassini edition
What a rare car! These cars never really sold in volume..the styling was a bit controversial at the time. This Oleg Cassini edition is even more rare! Lincoln was into naming special editions of their cars, so AMC was just following an industry custom! They also made Gremlins with Levi interiors!
1959 Cadillac series 62 convertible
A beautiful car, this was on the auction block at Zephyrhills, Florida. A new 390 c.i. engine, 325 horsepower made its debut on all but Eldorado. This was the extreme of the fin movement...never would they be as extreme on a Cadillac. What an icon of the age!!
AMERICAN ECONOMY CAR IMPORT, THE NASH METROPOLITAN
AFTER YEARS OF DELAY, NASH MOTORS LAUNCHED THEIR FOREIGN MADE ECONOMY CAR IN 1954, THE NASH METROPOLITAN. IT WAS DESIGNED BY NASH BUT PRODUCED IN GREAT BRITAIN BY AUSTIN MOTORS FOR ENGINES, AND FISHER & LUDLOW MADE THE BODIES. THE BODIES WERE HARDTOPS AND CONVERTIBLES. EXPORTED TO THE U.S. AND CANADA ONLY THE FIRST TEN THOUSAND CARS HAD A 1200-CC ENGINE, AND A 1500-CC STARTING IN AUGUST '54. BOTH ENGINES WERE OHV 4 CYLINDERS. THE TWO PASSENGER CARS HAD AN 85 INCH WHEELBASE AND WEIGHED ABOUT 1,800 LBS. THE HARDTOP COST $1,469 AND THE CONVERTIBLES COST $ 1,445. GAS MILEAGE WAS FIGURED AT 40 MILES PER GALLON. FROM '53 TO '54, ALMOST 14,000 METROS WERE MANUFACTURED. WHEN YOU VIEW THIS VIDEO, NOTICE THE RAISED VENT PORTS IN FRONT OF THE WINDSHIELD, AND ALSO NOTE THE BEADED METAL THAT OUTLINES A TRUNK LID THAT DOES NOT EXIST. NOT UNTIL 1959 ANYWAY. IF YOU WANTED TO STOWE SOMETHING IN THE TRUNK AREA, PULL THE BACK SEAT FORWARD AND STUFF WHATEVER BEHIND THE SEAT. DON'T KNOW WHY THEY NEVER HAD AN OPENING TRUNK LID FOR SIX YEARS, BUT IT MUST HAVE BEEN INCONVENIENT. ALSO NOTICE THE FAMOUS NASH HOOD ORNAMENT. SCULPTED FROM A REAL NUDE FEMALE MODEL, THESE HOOD ORNAMENTS ALWAYS GRACED METROS. METROS ALWAYS HAD A SPARE TIRE MOUNTED ON THE REAR. METROS USUSALLY CAME IN TWO-TONE COLOR COMINATIONS THE MOST COMMON COLORS BEING BLACK, RED, TURQUOISE, YELLOW, AND GREEN WHICH WAS COMPLIMENTED BY WHITE PAINT. YOU SEE METROS ON OCCASION AND THEY ARE ALWAYS A CROWD PLEASER. ENJOY THIS RARE AMERICAN IMPORT FROM NASH.

1949 Nash Ambassador Airflyte barnfind 1st time driven in over 44 years
Come along for a ride in this arcane behemoth !!! It feels so satisfying to drive a car that has sat for so long and required so much work to bring back to life and restore to driver status. This kind of job satisfaction keeps me going. It's my life reward and passion. All brakes, fuel system, engine and chassis repairs now complete. This old Airflyte now purrs like a kitten and stops on a dime. Update: this car is a "Special Super", of course, we all know it it super special....Haha, it has special handwritten in pencil on the fire wall, but, I never thought much about it. Turns out it has been positively identified as a very rare 1949 "Special Super", no other 1949 special supers are known to exist....yet

1953 Nash 4 Door Sedan
The 1953 Nash Ambassador featured mechanical improvements but little in the way of styling changes from the 1952 series, save for some chrome trim added to the fresh-air intake in front of the windshield. Engine upgrades included a compression ratio increase to a 7.45:1 from the previous 7.0:1, new "High-Lift" camshaft, and "Duoflo" carburetor. The engine, named the Super Jetfire now put out 120 horses. Nash claimed it would "bring you thrilling performance with 22 percent greater 'passing' acceleration and amazing economy." One of the more popular options in the book was a new hood ornament, designed by pinup artist George Petty, that featured a voluptuous chrome lady on a flying wing. Nash was still pushing the Pinin Farina name in brochures, pointing out what it called "The Difference that is Farina!" Sales catalogs for the year called the senior Nashes the "Most Beautiful Cars of Our Time," and that wasn't far off. Viewed alongside other medium-priced 1953 cars like Hudson, Desoto or Mercury, the big Nashes compared very well. This 61,000 mile example stands up very well, runs and drives as new. Four new wide white wall tires on original wheels, trim is in excellent shape and the paint is a mile deep. What a classic!!
