Well here it is kids another offering of my most popular subject to date, drum brake servicing. I know it's long but I've put a few extras in it for you that I hope you will like and will help you with other things besides just replacing the shoes. Feel free to comment on anything I might have missed, I know I misspoke on a couple of occasions in the video, forgive me as sometimes my mouth says different things than my brain is thinking.

As I said in the video I've been asked about this video for some time and I was happy to get the opportunity to make it. Now that I think about it however I did not address ABS systems in this video however the Subaru used does have ABS. I'll probably make that amendment in a future Re: video. For the most part however this is how I do it ABS or not.

Replacing Rear Brake Drums and Pads on a 2000 Toyota Corolla
This is not really a tutorial since this is the ONLY time I've ever done this! So work on your brakes at your own risk.
I didn't really want to do the job myself at first. I wanted to pay someone else to do it, but the 2 or 3 people I took it to could never fix the squeak, so I had to take matters into my own hands -- or go crazy!
This video is a test of my Flip Cam, which is pretty good except for close-ups. I never added a voiceover or soundtrack to this video as I had intended. If I had waited until I had completed that, then I'd never get this video uploaded! So here you go! As good as it gets.

Replacing Rear Disc Brake Pads/Shoes on Toyota 2nd Gen Avalon 00-04 Save $100
After getting a quote from a local chain mechanic shop, I decided to change the brake pads myself. I did once before about 10 years and bit hard on cash at current econ. This video should be pretty universal on disc brakes but especially on Toyota Camry, Solara and Lexus ES 300/330.

I, Jordan, assume no liability for anything you choose to do to your car, before, or after watching one of my videos, including this one. All DIY repairs, or modifications, you perform to your car are made at your own risk. Sometimes, even if you've done everything the right way, you can destroy, or damage, a piece, or part. You must understand this; part of doing a repair, and/or modification is messing up sometimes. Also, if for some reason, I do give incorrect instructions, and something breaks because you followed my instructions, I still will not reimburse, or pay, in any way, for whatever cost that may be incurred due to following my wrong instructions. Don't do anything to your car unless you yourself feel comfortable, & confident in doing so.

DIY Car Repair

Drum Brakes a Quick Look - EricTheCarGuy
Here is a brief overview of the basic set up and operation of drum brakes. I've had a couple of requests for this one and I'm happy to address those questions here. I will be making a longer version of this video that will eventually be for sale on the ETCG website. This video will not only cover the operation but it will also cover brake shoe replacement. As always you can visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com which is now slightly smaller for those of you with smaller viewing screens.
