How To Clean A Ford MAF Sensor - Simple & Effective
Cleaning a Ford mass air flow sensor. This procedure should work on most Ranger Mustang Taurus F150 etc. from the 1990's and 2000's. After doing this, my truck performed much better. Smoother running, and more responsive. I used paint thinner and denatured alcohol with a cotton swab.
Ford MAF Sensor Testing, Ground & Signal
Ford MAF Sensor Testing, Ground & Signal
Testing the Ground Circuit of the Ford mass air flow sensor.
The Ground circuit connects at the Battery Negative Terminal, and in this test, you'll make sure that the wire is actually doing its job. Here's how to test the ground.
Turn key to the OFF Position.
With the Multimeter in VOLTS DC mode. Connect the BLACK Multimeter test leed, to the circuit identified with the letter B, as shown in the video.
Connect the red leed to the battery positive terminal. No need to turn the key to the On position, since the Multimeter should automatically read Battery Voltage as soon as the connection is made.
If the Multimeter registered 12 Volts, This tells you that this Ground circuit is OK.
If the Multimeter DID NOT register 12 Volts, The mass air flow sensor is not the problem. Without a clear path to Ground in this circuit, the Ford mass air flow Sensor will not work.
THAT WAS JUST an excerpt of this video. It goes into details on specifically testing the FORD MAF sensor. Get the scoop here.

Ford MAF Sensor Testing, 12V Power
Ford MAF Sensor Testing, 12V Power
You do not need a Scan Tool to test the Mass Air Flow Sensor on your Ford. Here, we'll walk you through the whole process of testing and troubleshooting the FORD Mass Air FLow sensor, using only a Multimeter.
Although the mass air flow sensor on your Ford is inside the round Air Filter canister assembly and hidden from view, it can be diagnosed in four easy steps.
The Mass Air Flow Sensor on your FORD may have 6 or 4 wires coming out of the Plastic Round Air Filter Box. If the ford mass air flow sensor has 6 wires, this indicates that the Air Temperature Sensor is integrated within the mass air flow sensor itself. If it's a 4 wire sensor, then the Air Temp Sensor is located externally, usually on the Air Duct connecting the Round Air Filter Assembly to the Throttle Body. Get the scoop on testing your FORD MAF sensor.

Quick Tip-Throttle Cleaning - EricTheCarGuy
This one goes out to BowlingBallOut who posted a question about a sticky throttle on his Saturn. It was a great question so I decided to make this video in response to it. There are many different configurations of throttle assemblies but for the most part if you have a throttle that is sticking you might be able to fix it using the procedures in this video. I am aware you may not able to purchase spray throttle cleaner in some states now but I'm sure they have some alternative available at your local parts store.

Cleaning A Mass Air Flow Sensor To Stop Hesitation
Scotty Kilmer, mechanic for the last 44 years, shows how you can clean your vehicle's MAF sensor to stop hesitation when you accelerate. They often get dirty and need cleaning, just like an old carburetor did. Visit the Scottykilmer Channel on Youtube for answers to all your car questions.

A short video of a Garrett GT174 turbo replacement on a Ford Mondeo 2.0TDCI 130bhp.Unable to post a video of car running before removel of turbo as oil light was on and did not want to cause damage to engine.Car was showing signs of heavy smoke and starting to run on its own oil.
Ford Mondeo Tdci 130bhp 2005 reg hesitance due to split in the EGR to intercooler pipe
After a couple of days of a slight hesitance in the performance of my diesel ford mondeo I lifted the bonnet to find a one inch split in a hose. Thank you to the members of the TalkFord forum for confirming what pipe is shown in this video. It has now been replaced and the performance is as it should be.
P0401 EGR Valve Port Cleaning
This is my DIY for clearing the CEL code P0401 (EGR Insufficient Flow) on a 98 Honda Prelude.
In cars with OBD2 if the EGR valve is restricted by carbon deposits it will detect that and throw a CEL. To get rid of that CEL you must clean out the carbon to allow flow.
After combustion occurs within the engine it creates Exhaust. Gas from the Exhaust straight from the engine is very bad for the air. The EGR valve recaptures that Exhaust and runs it through the combustion process again, which lowers the temperature of the fumes (Exhaust gas) and lowers the amount of pollution exiting into the atmosphere.
If you don't fix it you won't pass SMOG in California. You may experience rough idling and poor acceleration.
Tips:
Get your "EGR port plugs" from Honda. They will have it.
Removing the injectors are important to allow clearance to the port plugs.
When you pull out the injectors you might as well clean them since they are out.
Slide hammers make pulling the port plugs out easily.
Drill with a bit the size of your tap. Drilling halfway through the port plug to should be enough distance to fully grab the port with the slide hammer.
If after you clean your ports and valve the CEL has not been cleared, you EGR valve maybe faulty and needs to be replaced.

How to clean a throttle body and Idle air control valve (iac)
*** PLEASE READ ***
In this video demonstration, I show how to get to, remove, clean, and replace the throttle body and idle air control motor (aka IAC) on a 4.2l ford motor. This procedure is the same for any fuel injected vehicle.
* * * Check out my website krkvideos.com * * *
The vans require removal of alot more stuff just to access the throttle body.
A dirty IAC can cause a rough idle. A dirty throttle body can harm performance and cause rough engine operation.
When the throttle body or iac is removed a new gasket must be used to properly seal the connection to the intake.
GM idle air motors are generally mounted on the throttle body and can be cleaned without removal from the throttle body. This means one less gasket and a lesser chance of creating a vacuum leak.
The ford throttle body had a note on it that said it was not to be cleaned because the coating on the throttle blade might be damaged. Thats fine for a new car but that has to be disregarded when working on something that has some miles on it.

MAF - Mass Air Flow sensor - Monitors the amount of air the engine is intaking.
IAT - Intake Air Temperature - Measures the temperature of the air the engine is intaking.
IAC - Idle air control - Controls the amount of air the engine is intaking while it is idling.
Throttle body - Responsible for regulating flow of air into the engine as you press the gas pedal.
TPS - Throttle position sensor - Tells the computer how far you are opening the blade in the throttle body so it can add more fuel to compensate the added air.
