MAZDA RX7 Rotary Engine, How It Works
MAZDA RX7 Rotary Engine, How It Works
The MAZDA RX7 rotary or Wankel engine is a marvel of engineering. It has
won more races than any other vehicle in its class. Rotary engines develop
a great deal of power for their weight (power to weight ratio). They're
also able to develop high RPM bursts like no other internal combustion
engine. Learn the details of it operation, how the rotor transfers power to
the output shaft, what it the stationary gear set, what is the rotor to
output shaft ration and relationship. Get all the specifics on the rotary
engine's operation here in this video.
Presented using advanced software CG animation technology to help you
understand. Part of our Automotive Technology Rotary Wankel engines and
MAZDA RX7-RX8 series shown here on this channel. Enjoy...

Part 7: My 76 Mazda RX-5 Cosmo Restoration - Intake and Exhaust Porting
Has it been nearly a month since my last episode? Wow, time does indeed
fly. I've been quite busy preparing to build the engine. So in part 7, I
cover the intake and Exhaust porting.
The engine is being built with GSL-SE 6 port plates and the Cosmo rotor
housings as the basis for a 6 port turbo
setup. This port job is fairly conservative, only opening up the primary
ports a little and bringing the Exhaust ports close to 2nd gen RX-7 specs. The
goal is to maintain fuel economy, low and midrange torque, and idle
quality. This episode covers everything involved in porting including:
marking out the new ports, grinding the port shape, smoothing the bowls,
smoothing port to runner transitions, smoothing the runners, grinding and
blending the Exhaust ports.

Full Walk Around http://www.1OwnerCarGuy.com This is the complete walk
around video review of this beautiful 1984 Mazda RX-7 that is a 1 Owner Car
and only has 104K Original Miles on it. This car is a blast to drive with
the 1.3L 13B Rotoary Engine and 5-Speed Manual Transmission. This car has
been taken very good care of over the years. The exterior is as nice as it
gets. The paint looks great and has a very nice shine to it. All of the
trim looks great and clean. Has the very nice polished aluminum wheels that
really give the car a sporty look. It has the dual tops with a hard top and
a sun roof. The interior is very clean and shows very little wear. It is
fully loaded with all the options, leather, power everything, factoy a/c,
you name it. Everything on the car works. Someone really cared for this
car. Thank You for watching and please Share my Videos Comment on the Like

The Series 3 (1984--1985) featured an updated lower front fascia. North
American models received a different instrument cluster (the NA S3 RX-7 is
the only rotary-engined car to not have a centrally mounted tachometer).
GSL package was continued into this series, but Mazda introduced the GSL-SE
sub-model. The GSL-SE had a fuel-injected 1.3 L 13B RE-EGI engine producing
135 hp (101 kW) and 135 lb·ft (183 N·m). GSL-SEs had much the same
options as the GSL (clutch-type rear LSD and rear disc brakes), but the
brake rotors were larger, allowing Mazda to use the more common lug nuts
(versus bolts), and a new bolt pattern of 4x114.3 (4x4.5"). Also, they had
upgraded suspension with stiffer springs and shocks. The external oil
cooler was reintroduced, after being dropped in the 1983 model-year for the
controversial "beehive" water-oil heat exchanger.
The 1984 RX-7 GSL has an estimated 29 highway miles per gallon (8.11 litres
per 100 km) /19 estimated city miles per gallon (12.37 l/100 km). According
to Mazda, its rotary engine, licensed by NSU-Wankel allowed the RX-7 GSL to
accelerate from 0 to 50 (80 km/h) in 6.3 seconds. Kelley Blue Book, in its
January--February 1984 issue, noted that a 1981 RX-7 GSL retained 93.4% of
its original sticker price.
