2013 Nissan Pathfinder Concept Previews Next-Gen SUV

Nissan previewed the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS). The new vehicle moves from a truck (body on frame) platform to a unibody platform - Nissan's D-Platform, which is the basis of the Altima and Maxima sedans, and Murano crossover vehicle. This move (though questioned by my die hard Pathfinder fans) makes the up-coming Pathfinder more marketable to families that desire seven-seater capabilities, while offering car-like refinement and convenience. The 2013 Nissan Pathfinder is set to be launched in the fall of 2012.

2013 Nissan Pathfinder Concept
2013 Nissan Pathfinder Concept, Tri-Zone Entertainment System Nissan Pathfinder Concept Offers Capability, Premium Interior, Family-Focused Versatility, Thoughtful Technology Preview of Innovative 4th Generation Pathfinder Design Features Intuitive 4WD, Innovative Child Seat Solution, Tri-Zone Entertainment System, Around View™ Monitor When the Nissan Pathfinder was originally introduced more than a quarter century ago, it became known as the perfect family adventure vehicle. With each successive generation, Pathfinder has remained true to that original premise, while evolving to meet the changing needs of its owners. Now, as an all-new 4th generation design gets ready to debut this fall, not only does Pathfinder provide capability with seating for seven, intuitive 4WD and 5000-pound standard towing capacity, but it adds an unprecedented level of premium style, comfort and thoughtful technology. A special preview of the new 2013 model, the Pathfinder Concept, showcases what is nothing less than Pathfinder re-imagined - a next-gen SUV with an unparalleled balance of capability, premium comfort and advanced, user-friendly technology. As represented by the Pathfinder Concept, the production 2013 Nissan Pathfinder is expected to offer a long list of best-in-class and unique-to-class specifications and features, including: Most standard towing capacity in class* Class-exclusive selectable 2WD, Auto and 4WD modes* Class-exclusive 3rd row seat recline* Class-exclusive Around View™ Monitor** Class-exclusive Easy Fill Tire Alert System* "Even as Nissan has expanded its range of adventure-ready SUVs to include Armada, Xterra, Murano, Rogue and JUKE, Pathfinder has maintained its very important position in the heart of the lineup and the market," said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. "The next-gen Pathfinder is stepping up with new and unique features and technologies designed to enhance comfort, increase fuel efficiency, and most importantly, add flexibility for busy, everyday family lives," he continued. A Mid-Size SUV with Full-Size Comfort As a right-size, 3-row/7-passenger SUV with the seating and cargo capacity that growing families need, one of the biggest changes to the upcoming Pathfinder design is the return to a unibody platform (also utilized on the second generation Pathfinder), which offers numerous benefits including a flat floor for enhanced interior packaging flexibility and more space. Overall interior roominess has been increased versus the 2012 Pathfinder design. "The Pathfinder Concept demonstrates that when it comes to modern interior design, you can have it all - SUV capability, roominess, premium features, versatility and user-friendly technology," said Castignetti. "By giving equal priority to both the driver and each and every passenger - including those in the 3rd row - we've created a premium driving experience and environment for all." Starting with a look at its premium features, the Pathfinder Concept's quiet, comfortable interior includes rich leather-appointed seating surfaces, heated and cooled front seats, heated 2nd row seats, heated steering wheel, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, Nissan Intelligent Key™ with Push Button Start and multiple user memory settings, and an advanced Bose® Audio System with 13 speakers. The Pathfinder Concept's unique versatility comes to life in the design of the 2nd and 3rd rows with exceptional 3rd row access - thanks to large rear door openings, 5.5 inches of 2nd row seat travel, and forward folding seat design for ease of entry and exit to the 3rd row. The 60/40-split 2nd row features an innovative "child seat mode," allowing forward movement and access to the 3rdrow with a child safety seat remaining securely in place (on the 40 percent split-fold side). "One of the dilemmas facing families with both young children and infants/toddlers is getting the older kids in the 3rd row without having to remove a child seat mounted in the 2nd row. This innovative design solves that issue," explained Castignetti. "Plus, with the extensive 2nd row seat travel, it's easy to adjust legroom or accommodate cargo spontaneously as needed." The 3rd row seat is a 50/50 split folding design, offering added cargo flexibility, and it also reclines for greater passenger comfort - a feature not offered with other SUVs in class. Both the 2nd row and 3rd row seats fold flat for optimal cargo capacity and there is additional under floor storage in the rear cargo area.

2013 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
DUBAI -- Chevrolet's toughest, most- refined midsize sport utility vehicle, the TrailBlazer, made its global debut today at the opening of the Dubai International Motor Show in the Middle East. The robust seven-seat show vehicle previews Chevrolet's latest SUV offering, which will be sold around the world, beginning with Thailand in early 2012. The new-generation TrailBlazer combines the hauling and towing capability of a body-on-frame SUV with the ride comfort and efficiency of a crossover. Developed in tandem with the all-new Chevrolet Colorado pickup by GM do Brasil, it shares the same architecture as its truck sibling, with a chassis tuned to combine heavy-duty off-road capability with refined city driving. The show vehicle features an all-wheel-drive system and is powered by GM's new 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine, which features a variable-geometry turbocharger for an optimal combination of performance and fuel economy. "It is a reflection of the importance of the Middle East market for General Motors that a vehicle as important as TrailBlazer is making its global debut at this show," said GM Middle East Operations President and Managing Director John Stadwick. "Without question, the new TrailBlazer will be one of the biggest and toughest members of the Chevrolet family -- the perfect vehicle to take on the Middle East's competitive midsize SUV segment. "Although this is a show vehicle, the overall design is faithful to the production version that will arrive in Chevrolet showrooms next year. TrailBlazer will be the ideal fit, not only for consumers in the Middle East, but in every place around the world where it will be sold." According to Brad Merkel, GM's global vehicle line executive for midsize trucks and SUVs, TrailBlazer offers the strength, design, capability and refinement needed to compete with the world's best off-road vehicles. "The growing markets of the world want flexibility. That means power and capability combined with comfort and efficiency," Merkel said. "TrailBlazer does it all. You can tow anything, go anywhere, comfortably seat seven people, and do so with the fuel efficiency associated with a smaller, less capable vehicle. It's the complete package."

2013 Nissan Pathfinder 0-60 MPH First Drive & Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 Nissan Pathfinder is all new and improved. Gone is the body on frame truck now replaced by a much more fuel efficient and modern Crossover. The new Pathfinder has gone to the spa to get in touch and come out all shinny and new. Nissan says the new V6 Pathfinder now get a class leading 26 MPG on the highway and still seats 7 people in moderate comfort. The new pathfinder can be had in both front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive models with the AWD getting a new terrain management system. And while it share much with the Infiniti JX it is almost an inch longer and of course less expensive. Check out this first drive review as we put the new 2013 Pathfinder to the TFLcar test.

2013 Nissan Altima Test Drive & Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/nissan/altima/2013/ Nissan calls the 2013 Altima the most innovative Altima ever as this model represents the 5th generation. Practically every facet of the car has been upgraded for the better from the more stylish exterior, to the smooth design and finish of the interior; the Altima looks to distance itself from the pack in a very competitive sedan segment. The 2013 Nissan Altima comes in 7 different trim levels with the base 2.5 sedan costing $21,500. The fully loaded 3.5 SL tops out at $30,080. On the outside the first thing you notice about the 2013 Nissan Altima is the body lines which look more like Nissan's luxury line Infiniti. There are chrome accents everywhere and the rear LED taillights are hard to miss. The body and chassis are lighter thanks in part to the use of aluminum. The overall drag coefficient of the 2013 Nissan Altima was also reduced which in turn helps lower fuel consumption. The interior of the 2013 Nissan Altima is quite spacious for a mid size sedan. The materials used are very high quality and the interior features are nicely laid out. Again the Altima seems to take a que from the Infiniti design line. There are 2 different engines options. The first is a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 182 horsepower and 180 lb-ft. of torque. The Altima might seem a bit low in the power department but with the Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission, Nissan thinks the 2013 Altima will net 38 MPG on the highway making it one of the most fuel efficient sedans on the road. The other engine choice is a 3.5 liter V-6 that produces 270 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. Driving dynamics are much improved as the rear suspension now consists of a multilink setup based on the 370Z sports car. The ZF Sachs shock absorbers are more commonly found on high end luxury cars from Europe. The 2013 Nissan Altima has a trick Active Understeer Control System which keeps the driver in control. Understeer is eliminated by the computer as brake pressure is applied to the inside wheel automatically. The 2013 Nissan Altima comes loaded with a bunch of standard features. The seats have been redesigned and test to improve posture and reduce fatigue. There is an Advanced Display which makes it easy for the driver to get vehicle information and navigation instructions. The Altima comes standard with Nissan's safety shield which adds over 50 features including a Lane Departure Warning System, Blind Spot Warning System, and Moving Object Detection System.
