Our 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 has a remote start feature that allows you to start the locked truck from outside. It's initiated by pressing a buttom on the key fob twice. The horn honks two times as you do this, presumably to warn those standing nearby that the truck isn't possessed. None of this will come as a surprise to those of you who routinely idle the engine to get the heater and defroster working in Minnesota and the Great White North. But this is also useful to give the air conditioning a head start in places like Phoenix, and you can accelerate the process by using the unlock button to roll down the windows to let the A/C system push the accumulated hot air out before you climb in. Of course the running truck can't be moved out of "park" until the key is inserted and turned to the "run" position, but you wouldn't want anyone to hop in and drive off, would you?
2009 Dodge Ram Remote Start with OEM keyfob using DB-ALL and CHTHD1 T-Harness
In this video I show how to install a standalone remote start on a Ram that can be used with the OEM key fob. The DB-ALL module is all that is used to start the truck. It receives its signal through the T-Harness from the key module. This is for anyone who doesn't want an extra remote to carry around, or who doesn't need the long range, 2way, alarm, ect., features that come with other units. The cost on this entire installation for me was $83.

2009 Dodge Challenger Push-Button Start
If your 2009 Dodge Challenger won't recognize your key fob, the push-button start feature won't work. What then? Well, simply pop the button out of the dash with your fingernail to reveal a socket for the electronic key, insert the key and then twist as usual. If you subsequently lose the button after you get the key fob working again, don't fret. Anything inserted in the hole will start the car with the correct functional key fob present in the car. After all, the button itself turns out to be nothing more than a precise-fitting piece of inert plastic.
