Rover K-series, faulty intake gasket
At the morning the engine did not crank at all, so we did thought that the battery was dead.
After few attempts with jumper cables the car started but the running was very poor. Closer examinations show that the crankshaft did not rotate smoothly and piston n:o 4 was at TDC lower than the others.
Now we're taking the engine apart to see the damage, at this stage it seems that the intake manifold gasket has leaked coolant into the 4'th cylinder and hydrolocked it, causing bent rod.
Too bad that this happened after year of problem-free driving after head gasket failure repair when we did full head job(cost approx. 800€ + job) with new gaskets - including this improved intake manifold gasket...
