Baja Warrior Mini Bike Clutch To Torque Converter Conversion
This is a how to video with step by step instructions on how to convert a Baja Warrior or Mini Baja to a torque converter clutch for more torque and more speed. In the video I show all the steps then take it on a top speed run to see the difference. It is a Comet TAV2 30 Torque-A-Verter for a 3/4 inch shaft and the 10 tooth sprocket for a #40/41/420 chain. I hate hearing my own voice so I lowered the pitch of my narration a bit so it sounds like someone else lol. :P

Read this before removing the governor: Removing the governor from your engine will increase the rpm and will give you more performance however take caution not to rev your engine on full throttle. You must remember to ease off and back on the throttle otherwise you can blow your engine. The stock parts may not be able to handle the constant higher rpms. Removing the governor from your engine is at your own risk. We are not responsible for any damages done to your engine. R1 Go Kart Passes a Cop
COOL INFO: Kart was bought for $5,000 plus shipping. It has had several owners. Previous owner from Georgia owned kart for literally two weeks then re-listed on eBay citing it was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever driven and there weren't many places to use it. Originally this kart had 6 wheels (google images R1 go kart). It was drag raced and crashed due to the front wheels coming off the ground. One owner told the story of trying to get the major tire manufacturers to produce a tire that would allow the kart to attempt to go over 200mph and not blow up (find video below in description of tire blowing up with speedo reading 181mph). 150mph or higher is reached in fourth gear, there are six gears :). Kart has been sold and the new owner is putting paddle shifters and other goodies on it. The local police have had two driver suspects. Both suspects have been harassed/threatened by police. They think they know who the driver was, they're wrong. He still remains a mystery. You DO NOT have my permission to re-upload my "R1 Go Kart Passes A Cop" without my written permission. Previous owner had Kart up to 181 mph before a tire blew out. Using GoPro Hero High Def camera with adhesive mount. NOTE: The rear tires are worn out so the driver didn't do anything to crazy. The ending was edited out to protect the driver. A complex go kart or small car made to look like a vintage car. unfinished, of course, it is turning out to be extremely cheap (~$120) estimated to be ~$200. it sounds expensive, but with the cost of a good engine at $300, it is cheap. the engine was obtained from a very old snowblower, 13" wheels from a store called "harbor freight tools", and body and frame lumber and plywood from home depot. a very large thank you to my neighbor Chris for the welding and to my grandpa for the engine, and for him driving ~6 hours each way to help me build, disign and obtain parts. How to get most 6.5hp engines to 7.3hp easily!!!
No you do not have to remove a govenor, no you do not have to replace any parts, all you have to do is back out a screw in your throttle a little bit and your done! I did this on my gokart and realized there were no videos on youtube about it! This is 100% safe for your engine and it is 100% reversable too. It raises the rpms from 3600-4300ish... my gokart speed has increased for 20mph to a top of 37mph going down hill!!! It raises the horsepower from 6.5hp to about 7.3 hp!!! So go out!
