There are two different 4-clinder engines offered on the Compass. The first is a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 165 horsepower while getting 23 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. The second engine is a larger 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 172 horsepower and nets 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway.

Although the Grand Vitara is not as popular in the U.S. as it is elsewhere in the World, Suzuki has given us an affordable SUV that does everything well. This SUV loves to be driven hard and can handle off-road hazards with ease. With a base price of only $19,649 the Grand Vitara is a great value.
Modern SUV's are loosing their rugged looks which are being replaced by a more sleek design. Well the 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara keeps the boxy look which adds to its appeal. The headlights are square, the fenders have a bulge, and the rims are 18-inches in size.
The 2012 Suzuki Grad Vitara is powered by a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 166 horsepower and 162 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy figures are 19 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway. 4WD is option on most of the Grand Vitara models. And while gas mileage may suffer a bit; the Grand Vitara is a very capable off-road SUV.
A great feature on the Grand Vitara that is not very common among SUVs is the fact that this vehicle has a large rear door instead of a hatch. The door makes it easy to get stuff in and out of the Grand Vitara without having to worry about overhead clearance. In the rear there is a nice rubber floor mat instead of the usually carpet that most SUVs have. Suzuki built this vehicle to be a true multi-purpose SUV which is intended to go off-road and get dirty.
On the inside the second row seating is spacious and set a bit higher above the front seats. This gives a stadium seating feel which is cool. Up front the gauges and center stack is clean and easy to read. Things are not overly complicated or cluttered in the 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara. The view from the driver's seat is excellent. You actually feel like you are driving a truck as the Grand Vitara sits up high.
Driving the Grand Vitara, you feel like you are driving a truck which is what you want in an SUV. The Grand Vitara is at home both on and off the road. This SUV is ready to handle the road whether it's wet, dry, or made from dirt. The Grand Vitara is surprisingly nimble thanks to its low curb weight. With most companies moving towards crossovers these days, the Grand Vitara remains a useful sport utility vehicle that you can take off road.

The 2012 Dodge Journey features 2 engines to choose from: a 4-cylinder and a 6-cylinder. The 2.4 liter 4-cylinder makes 173 horsepower and gets 19 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway. The 3.6 liter V-6 engine features Variable Valve Timing and the power output is 283 horsepower. The V-6 engine with 2WD can get 17 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. The 2012 Dodge Journey is a great crossover SUV that is worthy of your consideration even though it is not as well known as the competition.

The Mitsubishi Outlander carries the same front end style as the Lancer. The base price for the 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander is $22,345. For this price you get a 7-passenger SUV that is powered by a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 168 horsepower and 167 lb-ft, of torque. The small sized engine allows the Outlander to get great fuel economy numbers at 23 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. There is also a 3.0 liter V-6 engine available that has 230 horsepower and 215 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is also pretty good on the V-6 at 19 MPG in the City and 26 MPG on the highway.
You can expect the 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander to provide responsive steering, the engine has some kick, and the overall driving experience is enjoyable. At less than $30k the high end trim levels have a high level of comfort and luxury. The optional AWD system is great in tough weather. If you want an SUV that looks sporty and provide a great value; the Outlander is a perfect choice.
