2011 Chevrolet - What Makes a Police Car
When you hear of a fire over the scanners or get a tip from a viewer about a shooting, you start thinking...how quickly can I get a crew there? And can we get a live shot out for the top of the next show? Well, despite how quickly news crews have to get to the scene, the police have to get there even faster. That's why the typical police car is made very different than the average car.
Police cars not only require a bullet proof design, they also have to be able to accelerate quickly and come to a grinding halt promptly. In addition, they also need to be durable to withstand the test of time and miles; especially with dwindling budgets allotted for local governments.
For the past decade, the most popular police cruiser has been the Crown Vic. But now, that car is being retired and police departments across the country are setting their sights on the police car of the future, The Chevrolet Caprice. One of the things that make this car different is comfort. The Caprice is more comfortable and offers ample support for officers who sit behind the wheel just like most people sit in an office all day.
After a full battery of tests at a police vehicle testing facility, the Caprice PPV will join the Impala PPV and the Tahoe PPV, making Chevrolet the only manufacturer to offer cities and towns across the country a full range of police vehicles.

Arlington Police Charger Out Of Service Cover on Whelen Lightbar going some place to be worked on. Unknown destination, but maybe the radio shop or Dodge dealer. The cover is not installed well and cannot really make out t he "Out of Service" on the cover. They should in my opinion also use a magnet cover to block out Police as well.

A couple years back I headed out to Texas to check out a couple Donks creating a buzz on the internet. Out there I met the owner Jonathan Ivy who gave me a tour of his fine automobile collection.
Two years later he's still at it, and this time with Sandman Designs of Nashville, Tennessee. This 1974 Chevy features a 502 Ram Jet, digital dash, Wilwood brake kit, leather/ suede insides, JL subs, and much more.

In Denver today at the annual International Association of Chiefs of Police, General Motors removed the wraps from the 2011 Chevy Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle (PPV). GM displayed the prototype while at the same time confirming plans to build the V-8 and V-6 Caprice that will only be available to police departments and not the general public.
