here's my home made jet engine on an old go-kart at the drag strip. It was pulling at the finish line just as hard aas it was at the starting line. it felt like I was going 300mph! This old hack scared the crap out of me every time I ran it, that's what I liked about it.

this is the first run at the dragstip. I didn't run the fire show down the track and I got on the brakes before the end of the 1/8th mile. 7.65 at 96 mph. 1.87 60 foot time.

Jet Turbine Go Kart
This is a run up of my DIY Jet Turbine go-kart showing gauge values. The left hand gauge is the oil pressure (0 - 60Psi), the middle square readout is the turbine speed and the right hand value is the Combustion chamber pressure (P2)(0 - 60Psi). The left hand temperature gauge is the temperature before the hot side of the turbine wheel (T3). The right hand temp gauge is the temperature after the hot turbine wheel and just before the afterburner section (EGT or T4).
The afterburner was taking some lighting, as you will see, this is because I was running neat diesel in it with no petrol added. If petrol, is added or kerosene is used it lights easily every time.

home built twin shaft gas turbine kart
This is a video of my bud Dave Rosenlund driving my gas turbine powered gokart. The engine gas producer uses a VT-50 turbocharger coupled to a JFS-100-13a power turbine assembly. The output shaft is run 2.6:1 via chain drive to a jackshaft driving 2 coupled centrifugel clutches which in turn drives the live axle at 6:1 (low speed gear) :). This video is just to give you an idea of what Kart racing at up to 115 MPH is all about.The driver obviously is challenged due to his lack of driving skills. Just thought i'd put it out there. This was shot at Summit Point Raceway in WV in 2006. It is a 2 mile road coarse.
